DIY wooden cock
Make your own leirikyrpä – for a limited time, we offer this kit for just the cost of the puukko and a leather sheath! From time immemorial, Finnish warriors have worn puukko knives. It is the perfect knife – good enough for fighting, yes, but most importantly a man’s multitool. With it you can prepare what you have hunted, you can make fire and shelter, and you can make handicrafts. The most traditional of handicrafts is the leirikyrpä or camp penis, a wooden cock. The English language is a bit lacking in this sector – all words describing the man’s sexual organ are euphemisms, whereas Finnish has several words reserved just for it, with varying degrees of naughtiness. Word "kyrpä" is definitely the roughest way to say penis.

What you get in this kit is the very good Terävä Jääkäripuukko along with a leather sheath, and a piece of Finnish birch – a very hard wood for your leirikyrpä project. If you fail, remember that birch is still excellent firewood!
Detailed instructions are included in the package. It is written in Finnish, but you will get the hung of it!
If you really want to make a hard impression with your piece, you will have to go into finer details with veins and all, and you'll need a finer instrument for that – the perfect choice for this purpose is the Terävä Tiny! For your inspiration, you can look at Instagram’s #leirikyrpä.
Varusteleka Terävä
All Terävä knives and leather sheaths are manufactured by Laurin Metalli, a family business and Finland's leading knife blade manufacturer from Kauhava with roots going back to 1918. The Boltaron sheaths are made by Savotta in Karstula, Finland. Founded in 1955, Savotta is known for its simplistic and extremely rugged, Nordic designs. A Terävä blade is Finnish craftsmanship, pure and simple! And "Terävä", that's just Finnish for "sharp". For further reading check out the Varusteleka's Terävä page.
