Materials and design
When lives are at stake, your room for mistakes is minimal. Don't spend your chances on a torn seam on your backpack or ripped fabric on your pants. Särmä TST clothes and gear are made from the same materials as used by Finnish Defence Forces and designed to be both durable and ergonomic. Where light weight, mobility, and breathability are required, the structures and fabrics are chosen accordingly.
Made For Field Use
The design process does not include any thought to how the troops look in a parade. The cut and details only serve the mission in the field with all kinds of ornaments and fashionable features omitted. As required by real life, all features are functional around the year and can be repaired by the end user, if necessary.
Camouflage and stealth technology
The most effective camo patterns are not much help if you are bright as a beacon when viewed with night-vision equipment. Särmä TST clothes and gear are made to the same strict requirements as the Finnish Defence Forces define for NIR properties. Really disappearing into your surroundings is also an individual skill (skills are not available for sale) but with Särmä TST your kit is certainly a strong link in the chain.
Särmä TST Clothing System
A comprehensive and functional four-season clothing system designed foremost for the Finnish military end-user. Our system offers significant improvements in weight-saving, comfort and functionality when compared to their Finnish Defence Forces standard issue counterparts. The less of a bottleneck your clothing and gear is the better you can focus on the task at hand. Click on any picture for more information.
The least visible and often forgotten; the base layer is perhaps the most important of them all, even though in easy conditions it doesn't seem to make a difference. When the proverbial excrement makes contact with rotary blades, your base layer will matter. At that point, it's not about staying dry but remaining functional despite being soaked.
This layer offers moderate thermal insulation whilst wicking moisture outwards from the body and base layer. These garments can also be worn next-to-skin offering further flexibility to the system.
Lightweight, windproof, and low-loft insulated garments. The unlined garments are designed to offer a windproof barrier and to trap air between your underwear and outer garments. The low-loft insulated garments offer insulation and warmth required in extremely cold weather. Lightweight, quick-drying and highly breathable fabrics guarantee effective moisture management and packability. Designed to be worn under the field uniform for added insulation but also work on their own.
Protective outer layer fieldwear for four-season use. These garments can be regarded as "standard camouflage dress", they provide protection against the outside world through camouflage, and abrasion resistance. Breathable materials and ventilation options provide moisture management and thermal regulation. Designed to work with any type of load-bearing equipment.
High-loft insulated shell garments for cold weather use. Moisture- and wind-resistant yet breathable materials and ventilation zippers minimize thermal load. Quick layering on and off is a key feature of these garments, saving precious time when activity levels drop for static duty. Worn over regular fieldwear or instead of them.
Waterproof and breathable laminate fabrics and construction provide full protection from rain and wind whilst ventilation zippers minimize thermal load. Quick layering on and off is a key feature of these garments, saving precious time when the weather suddenly changes. Worn over regular fieldwear or instead of them.
These garments provide additional advanced camouflage in varying environments. Designed to layer over all your other clothing and fighting load to ensure the best VIS/NIR effect possible and to help manage your thermal signature.
