Särmä Wool Fleece Hood, black
A hood for our Wool Fleece Jacket. Hood sold separately simply because some people like them, others don't. So, best of both worlds is to sell it separately, yes? Attaches to the jacket with snap fasteners.
Two sizes available:
- Smaller size for jackets X-Small to Medium
- Larger size for jackets Large to 2X-Large
Material and care
Bonded 540 g/m2 wool-cotton-polyester interlock knit. Fairly dense stuff, brushed to resemble frieze and insulate better. There are two sides to one layer: the outside has more wool for better performance, and the inside is weighed more towards cotton for comfort.
- Wool: 28.3 %
- Cotton: 35 %
- PES (polyester): 36.7 %

It's a warm jacket if you are moving around and with a wind layer it can get oppressive but this is what we paid for right? It's not terribly light and doesn't pack away to nothing like a technical jacket but I assume you could hunker down around a camp fire and not fear. It has an old fashioned heft and the build quality is as described. The hood is very deep which is great if you like to wear hats but it gets comical without something under it. I've taken to just rolling the brim back which it does just fine.
For those with a full head of big hair, worry not, it's got you covered.
The fit is interesting, it has some loft and adjustments but ultimately it comes down to your body. I'm 6' x 250lb and large regular fits me well with t-shirt and double flannel under, it's just snug enough to not be garbage bag that you can never get cinched up enough to trap warmth. Unless you have very long arms, long may be far too long. If I were more "gladitorial" in my build I would have gone to an extra large but again this is all your body specific.
All in all I'm very happy with it in cold, wet, cold & wet and generally pleasent conditions. I haven't had bad enough weather to see what it does in crap conditions but I assume it won't let me down.
