Military strap cutter that comes with an oxygen valve key and a MOLLE/PALS pouch. In addition to safety belts and other strapping, these even cut open leather boots, so these are perfect for all sorts of rescue and catastrophe situations.

Features

Ontario Knife Company manufactures several different strap cutters for various target groups. These are their military rescue tools; at least their Model 1 and Model 4 can be found among these. The basic idea is the same in all of them, but the details can vary. All of them should be green and come with a green pouch.

The blade is attached with screws and can be detached for sharpening. The handle is made of aircraft aluminum with generous finger grooves and an oxygen valve key, and some of these have a ceramic sharpening stick on the back. Some also have a lanyard. The edge of the blade has a Titanium Nitride coating, and it cuts through nylon like butter. Some of these come with a spare box of blades and screws in the sheath flap.

To attach the sheath, you need a single column and two rows of MOLLE/PALS webbing, but it can be jury-rigged to anything you can think of. To carry the cutter on your belt, we recommend a Single-column belt adapter.

Overall length: 167 mm (6.6")

Use

Soldiers should carry a strap cutter in case of all sorts of critical rescue situations. And If you drive for a living or consider yourself a responsible motorist, you should have a rescue tool within arm's reach at all times. You never have accidents, of course, but if you spend a lot of time on the road, you are likely to be a first responder when others are in trouble.

In addition to military use and civilian rescue situations, the strap cutter is an excellent tool for warehouse workers, shopaholics, and everybody who has anxiety over too well wrapped packages.

Condition

US military surplus. These were carried, but not necessarily used. The condition of the tool itself is especially good, but the pouches are perfectly valid also, just not factory-new. So, there can be some dust or other signs of use on them. If you get spare blades, they can have some surface rust, but it won’t affect the use.

Nopeesti tuli tuo härpäke, valitettavasti omassani ei ollut teroitinta tai varateriä,
ehkäpä sen tyhjän tilan käyttää vaikka skordarin säilytykseen ;)

Looked as new, even the sheath.
But there would seem to be some variation in the models as the one supplied to me had no spare blades, no lanyard and no ceramic sharpener on the back - just a plain metal strap cutter with blade.
Not an issue if all you want is to have one in case it is needed rather than need one and not have one to hand.

Sheath indeed looks like it was worn, albeit still in perfect condition, and cutter is a brand new model 4, that is without O2 wrench nor sharpener. Came with a lanyard, though.

Long strap cutter in nice condition. No spare blades, too bad since those are hard to find elsewhere. These are supposedly great for cutting clothes to access wounds, so extra blades would have been nice. No glass breaker tip, so I prefer the Gerber strap cutter for that additional versatility.
