Austrian M1-type Helmet Liner, Surplus
The famous American M1 steel helmet became so popular that it became the mainstay of NATO headwear fashion, and many Western countries made their own versions of it. This is the Austrian model helmet liner with leather insides. In all likelihood, it will fit inside all M1-family helmets. It also works fine as is in costume parties and other fancy occasions.

The M1 steel pot saw action in every conflict from WW2 to the 80s. The helmet had a two-layer structure that combined the outer protective steel layer with an inner helmet, that shielded the wearer’s head from the hard outer shell. The Austrians decided to switch it up a bit and replaced the cotton insides with their own leather cushions. Leder, ja!
Features
The helmet liner consists of a plastic helmet part, with the leather cushioning and adjustable chin strap attached to the inside of it. As we mentioned earlier, you can most likely fit this into any of the M1 helmets.
Size info
The Austrian Bundesheer decided to mix it up by creating their own system with three simple sizes 54-55, 56-58, and 59-61. Like in European hat sizes, the bigger the number, the bigger the size.
Used surplus
Used, but in pretty good condition. Some metal parts may be a little rusty and the leather might be darkened. Some may carry white chalk markings on the outer shell and show signs of use. We do not sell these for protection, only for collecting. So don’t go joining a war or go catching falling bricks with this on your head.

Austrian surplus
Functional, neutral, clean. That's what the Austrian Bundesheer gear is made of. Our Austrian surplus revolves mostly around the Anzug 75 and Anzug 03 clothing systems, but who knows, maybe the "Tarnanzug Neu" will make it's appearance if the Austrians decide to clear the stocks in the future. Get your OD gear while the stocks last.
After the Second World War the Austrian soldier looked like a weird mixture of Allies and Germans; the M1 style helmet and general profile really tried to bring that NATO vibe up, but a lot of the gear and even the dotted camouflage pattern looked surprisingly much like WW2 German issue. In the 70s they took a major leap towards NATO with the introduction of the all-green Anzug 75 clothing and equipment system closely inspired by the American equivalents, finally letting go of the "old stuff". The Anzug 03 brought the game up to date with some changes in effort to modernize the whole thing. Now the Bundesheer is again moving over to camouflage.
