Finnish Military Bicycle, Refurbished, Surplus

All those who’ve been through the Finnish Defence Forces training still fondly remember the feeling of having one of these machines between their thighs. There was no vaseline, so cold oatmeal was the go-to remedy for the sores… Good times! Now’s your chance to experience something similar but with fewer tears. We got a bunch of the original Finnish army bicycles available only in our walk-in shop. They’ve been repaired with care so riding one of these is actually comfortable. Of course, if you insist on having the true FDF cycle marching experience, you can always find yourself a steep hill, some headwind, and start pedaling.

Attention: These bikes must be collected from the store. We are not gonna send them overseas or anywhere, sorry.

Did driving one of these give you PTSD? The problem was not necessarily with the bike itself. These have been given some love by non-army personnel. They’ve done a good job; the bikes ride smoothly and are almost ready for the road. You can usually find these on sale in thrift stores and surplus shops, but they’re generally in disrepair. We got only 15, and that’s it. So if you require a bike that gives as good as it takes, grab some cold oatmeal and your riding pants, and come to our shop!

Life is tough but so is this bike. They’re sturdy, thanks to the steel frame and might feel heavy if you’re used to modern carbon ones. The riding position is very relaxed, and the bike is great for leisurely cruising around town.

• Even though it reads 584 (26”) on the side, by purchasing a size 27.5” or 650B from a bike shop gets you the right-sized tires

As mentioned, these have been given proper love and care. The rear hub and brakes have been oiled well. The tires are intact, and other parts have been inspected thoroughly. They are not 100% road ready, as you will need to pump some air into the tires and adjust the seat properly.

A lamp or a dynamo may still be attached to the bike. These have not been inspected, and we don’t know if they’ll work, so it’s best to purchase yourself a working bike light. There may or may not be reflectors still attached to the frames. Some straps may also be included. All bikes exhibit signs of previous use, rust and some taping and such.
