British Flak Jacket, without Protective Material, DPM, Surplus

British DPM camo frag vest without the protective material. Get yourself the proper filler, and the flak jacket will be happy again. Or put some padding inside if you just need a prop vest that looks real enough. You can also use it as is and become a military chic trendsetter.

Features

The official name of this thing is “Cover, Body Armour, IS, Woodland DPM”. It comes without the protective material, which is named “Filler, Combat Body Armour IS”. The soft fragmentation filler goes on the inside. Removing the filler has not damaged the vest because it was made to be removed for washing. Additionally, there are compartments on the front and back for hard plates that protect the vital areas of the body.

The vest is closed at the front with Velcro, and the width can be adjusted with two Velcro straps on both sides. This British camouflage is known as DPM (Disruptive Pattern Material).

Use

Get yourself the suitable filler and you have a working frag vest. However, this is also an affordable option for airsoft, larping, and film use. Put foam pieces inside and you get the looks right without having to buy heavy and relatively expensive plates.

Wash as synthetics at 60°C / 140°F. Remove the possible protective material before washing.

Size info

The size system marked on the vests is the recommended height and chest circumference of the user. Thanks to the side straps, the width can be adjusted to some extent. It is worth noting that these are made for the military body type, which is usually more V-shaped than pear-shaped. So if your belly is bigger than the chest, you should take a bigger size.

Condition

Used British military surplus. Some have seen more use, some less but none are unissued. The camo pattern can be a bit darker or more faded. The fabric can also have some other signs of use, such as names/numbers of the previous owner etc. However, they are all in serviceable condition, and the signs of use just add to their charm.
