A warm hat is one of the best clothes to wear for freezing weather. Ears and cheeks are most likely to get frostbitten, so it's worth it to cover your head. And children should not be forgotten on this matter, so we offer kids' balaclava, so the youngest members of the family would keep their sensitive skin warm.

For gloomy sneaks or the ones appreciating ultimate cover we have a 3-hole balaclava or a little more sensitive version merino woolen balaclava with colour options.

A lesson for everyone expect Norwegians: In Norway, people call balaclavas as "Finlandshette," which translates into Finnish hood. This term came from the Winter War when Norwegians knitted and sent balaclavas for Finnish troops in 1939-1940. Since that Finnish embassy asked to decommission this term because it's often associated with criminals, political activists, or people who want to hide their identity.

Varusteleka’s Särmä

Most of our merino beanies and merino wool caps are under our own Särmä brand. Selection includes thicker or lighter models, commando caps, balaclava masks and even a alpaca beanie which is even warmer material than merino wool.

The most popular from our merino wool watch caps is Särmä merino watch cap, which isn't a surprise because it's such a good hat to wear. Plus, there should be enough colour options for everyone.
