Puukko is the thing we won the Winter War with, among other things. It's the ultimate knife for everything. This is no shit actually - the secret being that puukko is not made to look imposing, but to help you in daily life. It's small, easy to carry, and the blade is well suited for woodworking and other small chores.

Features

80CrV2 carbon steel blade (59 HRC), which is very good for puukko style knives because it is easy to sharpen and retains the sharpness quite well. The knife has a beautiful curly birch handle. The sheath is of the traditional Finnish style, wet formed leather, fitting snugly over the handle. 4-6 cm (1.6" - 2.4") wide belt hanger.

Carbon steel is good stuff for knives, but it can rust without proper care. Always clean and dry off the blade after use and remember to oil it now and then (any cooking oil will do just fine).

These types of traditional knives have been around for ages, and for a reason: they are rugged, simple, and practical. They have been used as weapons almost as much as everyday tools, at least in the past. Still today, they are an essential piece of kit for any outdoors enthusiast. What makes a traditional puukko and leuku special compared to modern blades is that they have no serrated edge bullshit or anything like that - you have a simple, strong, and sharp carbon steel blade with a wooden handle. This truly is all you need if you know how to use it.

Just got mine, after a thorough examination I found out that this is a very special knife, the balance in flight is perfect ,the ergonomic handle is a result of proven use by generations of nordic knifemakers , the 2 degrees offcentered blade gives a stabbing stance that shows its fighting Heritage. Its agile and nimble in use it has half the weight of my Buck 110 .The scandic grind carbonsteel blade is razor sharp and to top it off it comes with a perfect fitting sheath. Get one its worth it .

I bought two, one for me and one for a friend. They came quickly and look fantastic. High quality and not mass produced (one handle was a little shorter than the other). Very happy with the product and seller!

Great knife for a good price. Craftmanship is great, as well as balance and material. This is a great alternative to Mora and other workknives. And it is has much better looks.

This is one of my favorite tools. It has very high quality. I bought it from Varusteleka over a year ago, it is still my favorite. I need to get this for my sons.

I bought this knife two years ago from Varusteleka and it has become my favorite knife to bring hiking, camping, fishing and for just slicing meat. It's a basic puukko but well made, like all of the other products I've bough from Varusteleka. The steel is strong and holds an edge well. The handle fits very nicely in my hand and the sheath is very nice and still holds the knife in tight.

i´ve had this knife for 2 and a half to 3 years at most and belive you me when i tell you that i´ve beaten the seven kinds of crap out of this knife which should give you an idea as there are only five kinds of crap known to man. this knife does it all: processes wood nicely, chops vegetables and meat without being so big it gets uncomfortable to handle, and in a pinch can seriously kebab an unfriendly stranger with ease. learn how to take care of carbon steel if you want to buy this knife. it´s rugged, versatile and has that old school look that makes people think it´s an heirloom.

now for the sheath. my friend you will not belive how soft the leather is. it huggs the knife snuggly and has a nice color that gets better with time. the only downside i can think of is the belt loop, it may be because i´m a dumbass but the knot makes the probability of it falling off your belt a real one, maybe it is because i´m bad at knots or maybe it is the desing, either way i dont like it.

Wonderful fitting sheath with no flaws. It was barely shaving sharp with a few snags cutting receipt paper. After stropping on leather with green compound, it was much smoother. The brass bolster is rough on top and needs sanding. Looking down on the knife the spine is not evenly ground. I'm not sure if it supposed to be that way sine another review mentioned a 2 degree offset. Mine is more than that. Otherwise it seems like a good knife. I wear Large gloves and the handle is slightly small to be perfect, but is very good nonetheless.
The shipping speed was super fast!
