Features
The waterproof and breathable sleeping bag cover is known as the Bivouac sack or just bivy. You pull it on top of the sleeping bag when you don’t want to get wet when sleeping in an open shelter or without a shelter. It also protects you from the wind.
This bivy bag is part of the US Modular Sleeping Bag system that provides functional solutions for all sorts of weather conditions. In hot and wet conditions, you can also use it on its own without a sleeping bag. We have sold this Universal Camouflage Pattern bivy earlier on as well, but as part of the sleeping bag system. Now, we got a small batch of them separately.
The fabric is waterproof and the seams are taped. The bag is closed with a zipper and a storm flap that has snap fasteners. There is also a drawcord adjustment at the collar. The bivy has snap fasteners on both sides of the zipper on the inside for attaching it to the US sleeping bag. It also works very well unbuttoned with other sleeping bags.
Measurements when flat c. 230 cm x 88 cm (90" x 34.5"), and the weight c. 840 g (1.85 lbs). NSN: 8465-01-547-2757. At least some of these have been manufactured by Tennier Industries, but there can also be other manufacturers.
The manufacturer advises washing these at below 100 degrees Fahrenheit (38 degrees Celsius) using a low cycle and a GTX-friendly detergent. Dry at less than 100 degrees Fahrenheit using a low tumble dry cycle or hang to dry.
Condition
US military surplus. Used but not abused, so these are in serviceable condition.

Ainoa miinus tuotteessa (kuten varmaan lähes kaikissa muissakin bivvyissä) on se kun pään päällä oleva pussukka valahtaa naaman ja hengitysteiden päälle. Tämän voi kuitenkin kohtuu helposti hoitaa laittamalla tarpin pään päälle ja pitämällä bivvyn yläosan auki.
