The steel and heat treatment

80CrV2 carbon steel is used in all our carbon steel knives. The thing is that it's nothing special really, just really good tool steel that can take basically any beating and offers great edge retention.

The heat treatment we use leaves the surface of the steel softer than the inside. This actually functions a lot like fancy differential heat treatments making these knives very tough. As the surface is softer, any microscopic fractures or unevennesses in the steel will not cause problems like they would if the steel was hardened all the way through. The end result is virtually zero problems caused by material defects!

The heat treatment and softer surface is also why we have added the bevels to the spine, a simple polished spine was not enough for use with ferro rods but with these little bevels that bare the inner, harder steel we get a spine that strikes ferro rods real well!

Razor sharp, nice size. Not sure what to do with bare tang, cord or wood? maybe leave bare and make suitable neck knife sheath. Handy size, can see this being a really useful blade.

Lovely little knife that I bought for wood carving but happily use for all sorts of other things.
Perfect project knife.
Leave the tang bear, get some Kydex and make it into a necker.
Buy a belt sheath and wrap it in paracord for a light duty belt knife.
Shove G10 plates on the tang, make some sort of whacky molle platform plastic thing for your body armour and have an unusual last ditch defense blade.

Make it what you want it to be.

I love this little blade! It's sharp as Hell, and cuts beautifully! Now, I want the larger Skrama!

I have purchased 6 Terävä knives so far, and this is by far my favorite. I have a black linen micarta handle on it, and the shape is just so practical. I recommend this knife very highly. Terävä doesn't have any bad knives I've seen, but this one is the best.

Kuva lopputuloksesta

Näppärä pieni terä tarkkuutta vaativiin hommiin. Sopii hyvin ison skraman kaveriksi.

Once again great value knives, as all Terävä knives are. Except I like this one more. I'm not a Jääkäripuukko kind of guy, I find it too big for small tasks, and too small for big tasks. I like to combine big choppers with tiny utility knives, and combining the tiny Skrama 80 with the big Skrama 240 is just perfect. Made thin micarta scales to maintain a low profile, and I'm in the process of making kydex sheaths for these babies.

I may be Skramasexual.
