Swiss Greatcoat, Newer Model, Surplus
Are you into greatcoats? Even if you aren't, this newer version of the Swiss army greatcoat will make you see the light. Firstly, although being "newer", these aren't exactly new, decades old at least. These are less "military" in appearance than the old greatcoats, making them more suitable for street use. Being Swiss, they're crafted with love and skill of high-quality materials. Available with or without a wool lining.

Are you into greatcoats? Even if you aren't, this newer version of the Swiss army greatcoat will make you see the light. Features
In the early 20th century, a greatcoat was a de-facto combat clothing article of just about any soldier in any army. A few decades later, most armies had adopted lighter, better alternatives, and greatcoats were mainly used in non-combat duties. These are made in those times, which means the general outlook is less war-like.
These are available in two options. One without a detachable lining and the other with a detachable wool frieze lining. The latter is a thick and heavy coat for those really cold winters. The ones we checked didn't have any info on materials. So these can be pure wool or a blend of some sort.
Care
There are two things that make cleaning these a bit tricky. A) This is a great big bulky coat that might not fit well into a washing machine. B) It's wool, meaning it hates hot water and if washed with such and dried at a high temperature, it might shrink, the fabric transmogrifying into cat's hairballs. Fortunately wool also resists soiling very well - you're usually well off with just brushing any dirt off, or cleaning the specific spot with water, soap, a brush, and some vigorous scrubbing.
Size info
First you have the recommended user height, then the recommended chest circumference. The original Swiss size is in the brackets. Since you’re supposed to fit a lot of thick stuff underneath, the width of the midsection is pretty generous. So, if you don’t plan on storing the whole world underneath, you can easily take a smaller size. These feature French cuffs that can be freely rolled up or down for a custom fit even for an orangutan. The waist can be adjusted from the back with the appropriate tab.
Condition
These are in excellent condition, so they have either never seen any use or they have been used in a very neutral fashion.

The ones offered here, asides from having the elusive liner inside, might even have badges and/or ranks on compared with most I've come across in other places that come devoid of anything other than the buttons, the one I received (I went for the with a liner option) has a rank badge on it.

Not as formal/military/combloc looking as the Polish greatcloak, which I also have. It's a great, more everyday option.
Isn't new, but the only sign of use is the usual milsurp funk and some wrinkles. Going to get it dry cleaned and see how that helps.
Side note: Of all the random crap I've bought from Varusteleka, I've only hever had issues with US Customs when I've ordered greatcloaks...

Mine came with a unit marking on the epaulet, a small sewed-on insignia on the sleeve, completely clean and had basically no wrinkles.
