"How to attach MOLLE or PALS pouches to a belt?" is a common question. Now we have an answer that doesn't involve zip-ties or Paracord, but still costs peanuts.
PALS is a really nice way to attach pouches to PALS webbing, but doesn't work well with regular belts. Some variants with webbing on each row (not just the usual every other row) and Malice clips can be used reasonably well on 40-50 mm belts already, but the vast majority of modern ammo and utility pouches are out of bounds.
Compared to existing solutions our VFS adapter is Very Simple, offers a solid engagement with various PALS style pouches (US issue, British issue, FDF issue, Särmä TST, Tasmanian Tiger etc.) and is comfortable to wear thanks to inherent flex in the polymer. No other adapter offers such low profile and light weight as these.
A single 76 x 76 mm model is used to attach one column of PALS to your belt. Two of these single ones are perfect for attaching a three- or four-column pouch to your belt.
A double 114 x 76 mm model is available for pouches with two columns side-by-side, where two singles would overlap or not work at all.
Both models have belt slots for thick 40 mm belts and holes for a lanyard or carabiner. Turning the adapter upside down raises the pouch 20 mm. If you have a really wide belt, you can extend the slots to the lanyard holes with a knife. A cut-up adapter is wide enough for a 60 mm pistol belt.
The material is ethene polymer, the same field-proven stuff used in Savotta and Särmä TST backpacks and pouches as stiffeners. It's very tenacious and flexible, and isn't bothered by freezing temperatures. These are laser-cut so the edges are a bit rounded already, no need to finish these before using.
As you might have guessed from the Särmä TST / Savotta connection, these are made by Finn-Savotta of Karstula, Finland.
Särmä is our own brand of clothing and equipment. When you buy Särmä you get purpose-built stuff at a decent price, something that will fill it's intended role well and not cost you an arm and a leg!
Särmä products are covered by a 12-month warranty against defects in materials and workmanship. For further information please read our detailed warranty guide.
