  • Suitable for hiking, hunting and comfortable chilling
  • Thick terrycloth from Merino Wool
  • 74% Merino Wool, 25% Polyamide, 1% Elastane
  • 23.5 micron
  • Made in Finland

The specialty of these socks is the terrycloth fabric. The sock inside is full of small loops, just like on your standard towel, which makes the surface area quite massive and the fabric nice and thick. Thanks to the construction, these are quite airy and allow for some airflow, making them quite comfy no matter what the temperature outside is. These work well on their own or coupled with liner socks.

All merino wool in Särmä products is mulesing-free.

Want to know where the merino wool comes from?

Our sock provider Sukkamestarit has joined the NATIVA™system, the purpose of which is to be able to trace the merino wool back to individual sheep farms. Because of this, you will also be able to find out where the wool for all our merino wool Särmä socks comes from.

From August 2020, the packages of new Särmä socks got a QR code that you can use to trace the source of the merino wool.

Material and care

74 % Merino Wool, 25% Polyamide, 1% Elastane. Machine wash inside out at 40° C / 104° F, wool program, and wool detergent recommended. Please don't leave them in a wet lump after washing. Reshape them gently while still damp and hang to dry. Shrinks about 10% in the first wash; this is already considered in the sizing.

Because of the high wool content, just airing the socks is often enough.

Made in Finland.

Incredible. Thick and warm, keep your calves warm too. As soon as you take them out of the box you will tell they are bombproof. These don't smell even after being in my crappy low-breathability steel-toed boots after a 10 hour shift, because they use polyamide instead of polyester, and of course the wool works its magic too. Just like advertised.

Of note, they call it "brown" but it's much closer to a "rust" color, not at all like a chocolate bar shade of brown. The product image color is accurate, so there's no misleading advertisement here because who doesn't look at the image before buying something?

Really good socks for tall boots. Very warm and very comfortable and soft. I've been wearing them nearly every day for a few months now and they haven't worn through which is a good thing. I don't know how long they will last but if they last a year I will be happy with the purchase. I will buy another pair when they do wear out. The only problem with them is that the terry knit doesn't last where your feet compress the sock. No idea how you could fix this though.

Update: I have had these for a long time now and they are still going very strong. No noticeable wearing of the fabric and they are still very warm. I am now a few years into wearing them so they are a must buy I think.

I wore a pair today for the first time and here I am ordering a couple more pair. These socks are cushy and supportive. Great gear at a fair price. Buy the best and only cry once.

I live in subarctic northern Alberta Canada and like these socks a lot, the merino wool is soft and comfortable, they are very thick and hold warmth, and wick moisture well. I’m 191 centimetres tall and they go all the way up to my knees, tight enough to stay put on my calves but not so tight they cut circulation, they don’t bunch up awkwardly like a lot of cold weather socks do. For working outside in really cold weather I often pair them with a couple thinner sets of Canadian made wool socks. When layering with other socks like that and with good long John’s over top you can use them from -15°C all the way down to -50°C and keep your toes toasty. My only complaint is one of the socks I have seems to have developed a small freyed hole due to a possible bad spot in the yarn near the cuff, but other than that one they have all been excellent and it’s the only thing keeping it from a full 5 stars.
