The name says it all: these are fast and offensive running attack shoes. As light as they come with a tread that tackles anything below your feet: mud, roots, sand, rivers of blood of your enemies... With stealthy colors, these will blend in with your high-speed low-drag kit.

The idea when it comes to Salomon Speed Assault and water is that the shoes are probably going to be dunked anyways: better make them with the least amount of water-absorbing material to keep them light and allow fast drying. Heard it before? Yes: US Jungle Boots as used in Vietnam followed the same principle. War-proven!

I have put around 100km on these and they are very comfortable ; definitely light in weight and breath well. They broke-in within a few kilometres and feel quite natural;. The lacing system is clever and provides a comfortable fit. I suspect that the sizing is small: I wear US13 (UK12) normally but I ordered EU48 (UK12.5). They fit nicely but with normal (not thick) socks, since I bought them for summer use. If you intend to double up socks I suggest considering going a full size larger (maybe even 1.5 sizes - the last is not wide). This seems to be consistent with feedback from other reviews. N.B. - A year later and they are still very comfortable and no appreciable wear. Lacing system is fine; the spare set I purchased still unused.

These run -very- small. I measured my foot as instructed, and got a pair I couldn't get my foot inside. I had to pick a size which by the mondopoint system is the same as I have for my service boots - which are big enough for double thick socks with room to spare. These tacti-sneakers fit like a glove at that size. Add -at least- 15mm to your measured size, more if you want double socks.

A really tricky Salomon issue.... shoes. Salomon shoes should always be ordered minimally half a size larger (UK sizes). Also recommended by Salomon themselves. Salomon has a special webpage for sizing shoes ..... verify yourself first . Shoe size 11 (UK) from Haix, Lowa, Jalas and Norwegian M77 boots always good to go for me. Not so for Salomon. I had to order in 11.5 UK and even in 12 UK for winter socks, Before buying Salomon always check Salomon sizing table. https://www.salomon.com/en-us/sizingchart#unisex-footwear Too tight tolerances like Swiss watches ....
