Here is a very simple and sturdy mount for your red dot sight! This Reptilia DOT Mount is compatible with Aimpoint Micros and other optics that use the same footprint – check the list for examples.
- Very light
- Sturdy construction
- 1.93" sight height
This mount is compatible with Aimpoint Micros and other optics with the same footprint. The sight height is 49 mm / 1.93" from the top of the rail, which makes this suitable for operating a rifle while wearing a gas mask and/or NVGs. It comes in two colors: black and FDE.
Features
The Reptilia DOT Mount attaches to the Picatinny rail with a spring-loaded steel clamp. You can tighten the screw with either a T25 Torx tool or a flat blade screwdriver (we recommend a Torx tool) – remember to press the mount downward and forward while tightening to keep it firmly in place despite recoil. The mount is machined from a single piece of 7075-T6 aluminum and finished with MIL-STD Type III Class 2 hard anodized coating.

Recommended Torque Specs
What's torque, you ask? In firearm installations, it's advisable to follow the torque values provided by the manufacturers – that is, how tight the screws should be fastened. So, get yourself a torque wrench with a range of about 0-70 in-lbs / 0-8 Nm! Tighten the DOT mounting clamp screw to 45 in-lbs / 5.1 Nm.
Note: Your red dot sight attaches to the DOT with screws provided with the mount, according to the torque specs of your sight – so check the specs from your sight's manual or the manufacturer. Typically, the torque is around 12 in-lbs / 1.4 Nm (Aimpoint Micro), so the force needed is quite minimal. If you overdo it, you might damage something and have a bad time.
Installation Instructions
Here's an installation video. Below are also step-by-step written instructions. For installation, it’s also good to have some sort of aid to keep the rifle in place, such as a bench vise and for AR rifles, a device like the Magpul BEV Block.
