Quick and easy to prepare
The main meal is very easy to prepare in the field. Tear off the top of the bag at the indentation. Add warm water up to the level marker. Stir well, close the bag using the ziplock, and let the dish rest. The water amounts and resting time may vary from meal to meal. You will find more detailed instructions on each package. The snacks are eaten as is, and the drinks just require cold or warm water, depending on the drink.
Long shelf life
The main meal has a 7-year shelf life from the manufacturing date. Store at room temperature. An opened bag should be treated as a fresh product. Please eat the meal within 2 hours of adding water. The shelf-life of other products in the ration varies.
What is freeze-drying?
The main meal is made by freeze-drying, which is the most gentle way to remove water from food. Freeze-dried products retain their shape and structure relatively unchanged from fresh condition. They also absorb water again better than air-dried products and preserve more of their original taste and aroma. When vacuum-packed, they can last for a very long time, even without the use of preservatives.
