The price may appear high but it is actually cheap in comparison to what these usúally cost. This is a very teeny tiny batch, so it's an opportunity of a lifetime that will most likely avoid you like plague from now on.

Use

WallCreeper is a very versatile thingamajiggy for military use and for those gear freaks who are turned on by ultralight camping. You can turn it into a rain poncho suitable even for basketball players. There is a drawcord at the bottom that enables you to tighten the hem around your waist, which makes moving around much nicer. There is also a drawcord around the hood, so the hood will stay on even in a raging storm.

When you use this baby as a bivy bag, you can transmogrify your sleeping bag into a shelter fit for wet conditions. The water-resistant zippers, storm flaps, and taped seams will keep the water out. You can also tighten the bottom drawcord fully and slip the lump into the small pocket at the bottom, to ensure that no water enters from there either. This is designed to pair up with the Exped Wallcreeper sleeping bag, but it will work nicely with other one-person sleeping bags, too.

When you open the full-length zipper completely, you can also create a small tarp out of your WallCreeper. There are tie-down loops around the fabric for this use. It won’t make a huge party pavilion but it will fit one person to sleep at least.

As the name implies, this was also designed to be used as a hanging shelter for mountaineering and rock climbing. However, since this is military surplus, albeit unused, we won’t be able to guarantee that it is fit for extreme conditions. You should buy your climbing gear brand new.

Materials and care

WallCreepers are made of durable two-layer Gore-Tex fabric, which is waterproof, lightweight, and easy to pack. It rustles to some extent so it isn’t ideal for activities that require absolutely silent materials. The camo print is totally NIR compliant, so you don´t need to fear looking all lit-up when viewed through NVDs.

Wash by hand at 30 degrees Celsius (86 F), rinse thoroughly, and hang to dry. Don’t iron or dry clean.

Condition

Unused US military surplus. Made in the USA by Outdoor Research.

this thing rocks. to wear it like a trench coat, pull the bottom up to your armpits, tie the drawstring into a knot, then put it around your neck like a yoke for suspenders. now that the zipper is upside down, zip to the beltline. it's now a sleeveless trench coat. add gaiters and you have your wet weather gear! the ability to reduce your gortex layers and bivouac to a single item that you can wear all the time saves a lot of space. if you live in a buggy environment like me, use the hood drawstrings to create a ball as you would with the bottom drawstrings. totally sealed! no other poncho is gonna do that. buy once cry once. here's a secret though: they're on ebay for $150
