If you are reading this, you probably have or are planning to own a traditional shelter half ("Zeltbahn"), or a couple of them. This East German set comes with the necessary hardware to put up anything from two-man tents to larger contraptions. What's best, the parts are compatible with any Eastern Bloc shelter quarters. The solidarity of it all! They even fit some Western tarps, but don't let the Politruk know you even thought of this.

The pole pieces are 39 cm (15 3/8") long, slide about 5 cm (2") into each other and their smaller end has a diameter of about 1 cm (0.40"). The bayonet-type connection is reinforced with aluminum. Weight about 120 grams (4.23 oz) per pole piece.

The stakes are steel and very robust. These might come in a few different variations but all serve the same purpose. Length about 24 cm (9.5"), weight about 100 grams (3.52 oz) per stake.

The ropes are about 1 meter (50") long, sometimes made of traditional hemp but usually of utilitarian but a bit cheap plastic factory stuff, nothing really to write home about. They do their duty and that's it.

These are delivered in a plastic bag. You might want to get a more durable bag for these.

I would recommend treating the bare wood tent poles with some kind of water proofing product. The tent poles look like they were of recent manufacture, rather than having been in long term storage. One tent pole was missing the small metal stub, which helps lock to two sections in place. But one can work around that. I am very pleased with my purchase.

I have 3 sets of these I have purchased here in the USA. This set is worth it IMO. Each pole is the exact length of an original issued Polish lavvu aluminum pole. (I have purchased a complete original Polish lavvu kit on Etsy) If you have purchased the Polish rain capes here when they had them but no poles? These tent poles work with them to make a lavvu. I bought 4 Polish rain capes here and made paracord loops to put through the bottom grommet eyelets so the tent stakes can be used. Just in case if you don't know. You need 2 Polish rain capes buttoned together to make your lavvu setup. Ignore me if you already knew that :)

Just received these and everything is in good condition. The tent Stakes don't have a spot of rust. Oddly enough the tent poles have more rust on them then the stakes but only on the little knock. The wood is a little rough so I'll spend some time sanding it down. But overall I'm happy with this purchase.

Great bit of kit, I use it to make an A frame for my Polish Lavvu tent. The poles where a little tight at first but I oiled them with some gun oil and now they slide together like butter. Very well made bit of kit that should last decades. The stakes are very robust and give very good strength when in the ground, I also use them with my Lavvu. They are heavy the stakes but well worth it in my opinion.

Edit: Would someone be able to message the guy in the other review and tell him to oil the poles?

I bought this to use with my two Hungarian M49 shelter halves that turns into a lavuu. It works perfectly, and the poles and stakes are in very good unused condition. These stakes are AWESOME, almost too good to be honest because when they are in the ground they can be very hard to pull out sometimes lol and if the ground is frozen they become very stuck and it can be a pain in the ass to remove. If you are worried about your tent taking off into the air due to high wind, worry not with these because they wont be going anywhere once you put them in the ground, it will make your tent withstand a hurricane. The poles are awesome quality as well! All in all definitely worth it.

Ostin tämän lähinnä kiilojen takia vanhaan telttaani. Keppejä en ole testannut.

Kiilat ovat todella järeät, mutta niitä on vaikea saada edes potkimalla aivan pohjaan. Vasaralla tai lähintä kiveä käyttäen asennus voisi olla helpompaa. Toisaalta tiukka asennus tarkoittaa myös sitä ettei kiilat lähde omia aikojaan irti maasta kun tuuli repii telttaa.

Erityismaininta siitä että kiilat menevät siististi pinoon tämäkään ei ole siviilipuolella itsestään selvä asia.

Kaiken kaikkiaan siis hyvä ostos.
