If your rifle stock is missing sockets for a QD sling, here's a solution! Fits many stocks where the appropriate 1/2" holes were already drilled but the steel sockets themselves were not included.

There are many ways to add attachment points for QD slings on your rifle or carbine. There are solutions that mount onto a Picatinny rail, MOE slots, M-LOK slots, or even the receiver endplate of an AR-15.

The Magpul Sling Mount Kit is intended to provide this kind of attachment point to almost any stock with ready-made 12.7 mm (1/2") holes for the purpose. The steel hardware adds cost when made well and is not necessary for all users of the stock, so the holes are often plugged with a plastic insert or left as-is.

Heavy-duty black phosphatized steel construction.

Made in the USA.

What's included and what fits what

Type 1 comes with various fasteners. Type 2 assumes you already have a Type 1 (you bought it or your stock included one) so when you buy the Type 2 it's just the socket.

If you want to use the Type 2 socket alone for whatever reason, you'll need to buy a UNC screw with a 10-24 thread. It looks roughly the same as the metric M5 thread. (Metric fasteners are not compatible, they are only mentioned to illustrate the size.) The thread length will depend on your application.

  • Type 1: Comes with four screws in different lengths and a nut to provide a socket on either side of the stock
  • Type 2: Replaces the nut you would normally use to fasten the Type 1 so you get sockets on both sides
  • Swivels and 1/8" Allen key not included.

My rifle has...

SituationSolution
... QD sockets on both sides. No need to buy shit!
... QD socket on either side.Buy the Type 2.
... just the holes for QD sockets .Buy the Type 1 at least, consider the Type 2.

You might find suspiciously good-looking holes on many stocks and not just ones made by Magpul. These sockets are very likely to fit those as well.

No holes? No problem! You can drill pretty much any solid stock you may have, in case the carver of your wooden stock was not a clairvoyant. The external diameter of the socket is 12.7 mm (1/2") and the length is a bit less than 15 mm, around 9/16". Note that drill bits have a habit of wandering a bit, so don't go straight to the intended size. If you find the socket to sink a bit too deep, just add a washer underneath.

Made by Magpul

Magpul Industries is an American designer and manufacturer of firearms accessories and related items. The name comes from the first product released in 1999, a rubber add-on to a 5.56 mm STANAG magazine to help pulling it out of a pouch. Anything that says "Magpul" is most often well designed, which means it gets the job done but is also simple. We like their attitude.
