French F2 Combat Pack, Surplus

Price 13.99 USD excluding VAT

The F2 backpack is a huge improvement over the earlier F1 model. This is basically a remake of the old '40s paratrooper pack, just made from more modern materials. Lots of pockets and details, a good solid pack and really cheap too.

  • Sold 104 pcs in the last two weeks.

The F2 backpack is a huge improvement over the earlier F1 model. This is basically a remake of the old '40s paratrooper pack, just made from more modern materials. Lots of pockets and details, a good solid pack and really cheap too.

Lots and lots of pockets and details:

  • Large lid, closed with two straps and buckles. The top of the lid has attachment points for tie-down straps.
  • Two buckles near the mouth of the pack to attach the lid when over-packing.
  • Main compartment, dimensions approx. 30 x 27 x 15 cm (12" x 10.5" x 2").
  • Back pocket, dimensions approx. 30 x 20 x 5 cm. (12" x 8" x 2").
  • Side pockets, dimensions approx. 30 x 15 x 6 cm (12" x 6" x 2.4").
  • Flat pocket against the back, dimensions approx. 25 x 25 cm (10" x 10").
  • Carry handle.
  • Attachment points for tie-down straps on the bottom.
  • Nicely padded shoulder straps, the left hand one has a quick-release buckle for emergencies.

The material is really strong rubberized canvas. Buckles vary a bit depending on the age of the back. Some have metal buckles, some have plastic ones.

Used military surplus

These have clearly seen some use, some more, some less. But they are still in perfectly serviceable condition.

I love this fucking thing. I have 12 types of rucksack, and though I wouldn't think to call this "my favorite" because it's so basic, if you judge by my actual behavior, it must be my favorite, because I use it literally every day and take it into the field several times a month. This isn't even a case of "value for money" or "best daypack for your dollars," it's just a great daypack, period. The rubberized material is brilliant, the straps are broad and comfortable, it expands and collapses so that you always have a tight pack, comes on and off very easily, and it has points on the top and bottom for attaching extra items. (One of them is for a rifle grenade. Maybe that's a feature you've been needing.) It rides nice and high on your back, and so when you load it heavily, it still sits more ergonomically than any other surplus daypack I own.

I used this backpack couple of years for training and marching and the attachments in the bottom were quite painful against the back when not in use, and I wasn’t the only one. Also the main closing straps were not the most tactical. I switched them right away for plastic buckles as soon as I could get a pair.
Since it doesn´t have "belt" it can move quite a lot when running even if you are using carrying belt. The shoulders straps get untightened often if loaded heavy. Anyway, all in all a nice backpack with smart and simple design that fits everything you need for a few days and stays up in the back. For this price I would defenitely recommend to give it a try. I specially liked the flat outside pocket against the back, for either documents or cushioning.

It's a rugged, waterproof, simple, no-bullshit combat pack. Many pockets, very useful, padded shoulder straps are surprisingly comfortable. I have them set so the backpack puts pressure on my back near the kidneys. It's a bit dirty, has a few blemishes but it gives the damn thing soul.
