One of the last actually proper looking field caps of the Finnish army is this 1965 model. It's very much like the "blood scoop" cap used during the war years, only a tad lighter and looks less scruffy. Unissued, unearthed directly from Finnish army cardboard boxes! Sizes run big - they are two sizes larger than marked in the hats themselves!
Made of nice quality diagonal weave wool and nylon mesh lining, has a leather sweatband and rigid visor. Like with the old wartime caps, this one has fold-down ear & neck protectors. While undeniably useful for protection against cold, sun and insects to some degree, they make the hat look absolutely ridiculous, so they're best kept up.
Note: the sizes run pretty large - you could quite safely say these are in reality two sizes bigger than marked (i.e. 57 feels pretty damn much like 59). We have first given the size marked in the hat, then the actual size which it feels like. Trust us on this one.
These have just been stored until they went "obsolete" and were replaced by modern baseball caps, at least on paper. Oh how we wish they would just have continued to make these in camouflage scheme to accompany the new uniforms.
