Finnish leather jackboots, surplus

Finnish army leather jackboots. Getting hold of surplus leather jackboots is getting increasingly difficult these days. Used, abused, serviced when necessary. All good to go! Some boots are in unissued condition, these are listed separately: get them if they're your size!

The Finnish army has emptied stocks of used boots, but we found these elsewhere, of course for a higher price tag. Well, take it or leave it, these are still pretty cheap for what they are. No more will be made, and the prices will definitely not decrease.

The FDF jackboot is a very typical, well made and hard wearing an example of its kind. These were on the issue for a very, very long time, but some years ago released to the open market. Now they're getting increasingly difficult to get hold of, especially in popular sizes.

As said, the model is very basic: leather uppers with a leather sole and rubber outsole & heel piece. All put together with a clear example of a Goodyear welt. The leather in the boots is thick and of excellent quality, the stitches are made with strong thread, not some thin polyester string. Although they make pretty good boots today too, the craftsmen sure did make them tough in the old days, and being surplus, these are pretty damn affordable for boots that will last a long time.

These are compatible with the old school ski bindings, by the way.

Size info

Sizes in the normal French (EU) system and after that is the UK or US size. These are designed to be used with footwraps or thick double woolen socks, so we suggest sticking to your actual size. If you plan to use these in extreme cold, take a size bigger to allow for a third layer of extra socks. In addition, the last is quite wide, as in all Finnish army footwear.

We heartily recommend Jalas FX2 insoles to go with these, they make a world of difference with these to people used to modern shoeware. Pick the same size as the boots.

Insole length

Note that the insole length is typically about 15 mm longer than the recommended foot length.

Condition

In used condition, but sometimes we get unissued boots from other sources (these are very rare nowadays!). On the used boots the part that takes most of the punishment, the sole, is repaired when necessary before these were put away. These came to us as they would have been issued to the troops in a real SHTF situation, so these are combat-ready by the Finnish army specs! This means they may not be pretty at all but are fit for purpose.
