These virtually indestructible metal cord locks were commonly used in many pieces of Finnish military load-bearing equipment, most notably the M85 and LJK backpacks. Simple, strong, functional, easy to use with gloves on, really not bad at all!
Fits many kinds of thinner cords through it. Paracord, for instance.
Unissued Finnish military surplus.

Very VERY useful, you can use them with gloves on.
I have discovered them on my LK-35 and now I must have them on my other bags.
It's too bad the supply is erratic.

These things are bulletproof and work well with **gutted** paracord or smaller (think rucksack drawstring). No need to worry about it breaking!
