Well, here’s a very versatile jacket with a detachable lining. Perfect for working in the yard, dog walks, and why not for regular everyday use as well. A small one-off batch of quite gently used Dutch military surplus. Better act fast if you need a durable and dirt cheap jacket for several seasons.
Features
A simple work jacket that comes with a zippered lining. Zip the detachable lining on when you are cold and unzip it when your bits start sweating. It expands the usage period until colder spring and fall, even winter with a suitable mid-layer. The jacket has a zipper closure with a storm flap that has snap fasteners. The jacket cuffs have a snap fastener closure and the lining has elastic cuffs for repelling the evil wind.
Two side pockets closed with a small piece of hook and loop. Two outer breast pockets with curiously angled flaps and an asymmetric snap fastener closure that possibly only makes sense to Dutch designers. Furthermore, there is a small pen pocket inside on the left and a side-opening zippered inside breast pocket next to it.
It is good to note that we got these in two shades, one is a bit lighter blue and the other darker. Most jackets are of the lighter kind but there are a few darker ones in the mix. The only difference in addition to the shade is that the storm flap of the darker one has four snap fasteners instead of two. So, when you buy one of these, you most likely get the lighter one but there is a chance that you get the darker.
Materials and care
The jacket is made of polycotton. Some of these are 65/35 polyester/cotton but on some, there isn’t any further info, so the percentages may vary. The lining is 100% polyester though. You can wash the jacket at 40 degrees Celsius (104 F) and the lining at 30 degrees Celsius (86 F).
Sizing
The sizes are normal European jacket sizes. Multiply the size by two and you get the recommended chest circumference in centimeters. We added the recommended chest size in brackets already. Note that it isn’t the actual size of the garment but the recommended size of you. This is pretty accurate, but there can be some small variation in both the chest size and the sleeve length within the same size. Apparently, Dutch design is more of an art than science. For example, the size 58 fit an employee with a 116 cm (45.7”) chest very nicely. You could even fit a wool sweater underneath.
Condition
Used Dutch military surplus. Suspiciously nice for being some kind of work attire. Maybe these have been used in a cushy desk job. Anyways, some might have some small stains, warehouse dust, and such. But they are all perfectly serviceable. If your fetish is soiling a pristine jacket yourself, you should buy a lot more expensive brand new jacket.
