Although the Netherlands isn't exactly known for white winters, this naturally didn't stop them from developing a snow suit. The Dutch vision of snow camo pants is a very simple design. Nothing new under the sun, but this works alright and costs nearly nothing at all.

First, a note about snow suits in general is in order: these are meant first and foremost only as camouflage layers. Their insulation value is comparable to that of a polyester collared shirt. For this reason the snow suits are cut very large to fit over everything else a soldier might have to wear, and that can be a lot, even in the Netherlands.

These overpants have an open fly with a top button closure, tie-string adjustment at the waist and some kind of adjustment on the leg cuffs. The leg cuff adjustment might also be removed or damaged, but it's quite easily repairable. The pants cut large and can be donned with boots on.

Materials and care

Made of thin polyester or polyamide, depending on the year of manufacture. It holds up decent, doesn't really soak up moisture like cotton and dries very fast. The garment weighs very little and packs very small.

Machine wash in 40 degrees Celsius. Hang dry.

Size info

These are designed in NATO sizes: first up user's recommended height and then waist circumference in centimetres. When you get the pants, they might also be marked just as Small, Medium or Large (older models). Don't panic, we have just converted these to more concrete NATO sizes in the size listing. When you pick a size that should fit, you can fit your whole wardrobe under it too.

Actual measured waist sizes are as follows:

• 70-80: 102 cm
• 80-90: 112 cm
• 90-100: 122 cm
• 100-110: 136 cm

Condition

Genuine army surplus, in used but serviceable condition. As you can probably guess, everything shows on whites, so expect signs of use. However we can safely say that none of these is predominantly brown. There might also be repairs, missing drawcords and all that. Fortunately you will probably not wear these at weddings anyway... or?
