We got a very limited batch of these Dutch military surplus c. 30-liter day packs. This is a pretty handy and versatile pack. Perfect for shorter hikes, for carrying your groceries, or bringing beer to a beach party. You can also carry your school books or gym clothes in it when the situation returns to normal.
Then again if the society collapses completely, this will make a good bug out bag as well. After all, it comes in tactical black. If you don’t have such a post-apocalyptic handbag yet, it is about time to get one. Oh, and this can turn into a sling bag or a suitcase, too. Isn’t it neat?
You can divide the main compartment in two with a zippered mesh fabric. The other compartment has two straps with side-release buckles to keep your clothes and such in order.
In addition to this large compartment, there is a bit narrower zippered side compartment that is divided into smaller pockets. There is a small zippered pocket where you can store all your items that you really don’t want to lose. One of the packs that we inspected more closely had a pen in this one, so who knows what you’ll find in yours. Gold? Jewels? Used underwear? Get one and find out. This compartment also has a bit bigger pocket without a zipper where you can store e.g. a notebook or a hip flask. The side compartment also has a bunch of narrow pockets on top of everything, where you can put pens and other small items.
Then there is also a small zippered pocket on top of the pack where you can shove the shoulder straps. This way you’ll transmogrify your pack into a sling bag, shoulder bag, or suitcase. This soft and floppy thing will not make a very awesome suitcase but as a sling bag or a shoulder bag, it does its job. The pack weighs about 1.3 kg (2.9 lbs.).
