BW Meindl GTX Combat Boots, Surplus
A good pair of Bundeswehr Gore-Tex boots made by Meindl! These have great value: The top quality shoemaker Meindl made these combat boots for German troops, and you can get them now for surplus prices. These boots are used but in serviceable condition, and there are a couple of barely used pairs in the bunch – we’re not gonna do any further sorting. Order now, and be surprised! One-off lot!

Features
These boots were made for the Bundeswehr, and there doesn’t seem to be similar boots on the civilian market. We dug some holes in the hallowed surplus grounds behind our store, but didn’t find any fossilized scrolls explaining the story of this footwear. These don’t seem to be for sale anywhere else in the surplus world, and there’s no useful information about them on the web either. So: We had to come up with the features by ourselves with a hands-on approach.

Maintenance
Leather boots should be maintained regularly. Clean them with e.g. a brush, and then use a product intended for your type of footwear. These boots will need a product for leather membrane shoes. You can also take the insoles out at times to give the shoe a good airing out. The insoles are washable at 30°C / 86°F.
Please also read our shoe and bootcare article and be further enlightened.
German surplus
Used surplus combat boots in good condition for all field use. If you’re into black combat boots, you can also make a style choice and use these as streetwear. Can easily be used as 3-season footwear as they have a Gore-Tex membrane.

Unfortunately they come up pretty small,I ordered my usual size UK9 EU 43 and had trouble squeezing my rather narrow feet in. I tried removing the insoles to see if it would make any difference, it was then I noticed they were marked with an 8 (which I would say is more accurate )even though the boots are labelled 43.
Don't get me wrong these boots are great quality and a fantastic deal. I would still rate them a 5 and recommend them but size up if you're getting a pair. That said I've got a lovely pair of size UK 8 if anyone's interested? Alternatively you could just purchase my two big toes?

Speaking German must have some strange effect of shrinking your feet, as these were quite tight considering they were a whole size larger than my usual. I had the same experience with Austrian boots.
They do fit snug, but comfortable enough for walking when wearing thinner liner socks.
The left outsole glue failed on the first hike. Even though I tested the right after the left failed, the right outsole glue failed on the first trip to work, it was fun walking from the train with my outsole slapping the bottom of the boot with every step lol. Easy to fix though.
Ultimately a good boot at a great price, but will need some care when choosing a size, and maybe a small fix or two.
The pair I received was virtually identical in condition to the pair that was photographed.
