Do you like the desert colors but live on a swamp monster island where it always rains? No worries! Just get these desert boots that have a Gore-Tex membrane. Apparently, the German efficiency prepares soldiers for everything, like when it rains in the desert once every hundred years or so. This is at least great for us who use these in places where it rains a bit more often. The boot is in essence the legendary Haix Airpower P9 Desert, but might have been made by many manufacturers.
- Excellent ankle support
- Gore-Tex membrane
- Tough composite toe caps
- Speed lacing
- Durable suede leather and Cordura-type textile upper
- Haix Climate System
- Antistatic, oil and fuel-resistant sole
- Anti-slip tread pattern that prevents you from falling on your ass
- Weight: 855 (1.9 lbs) g/boot (size 285 (EU 44)
This is a pretty classic high-shaft combat boot, made from durable leather and breathable Cordura-type canvas. Toes are protected by war-proof composite toe caps, and the boots have a convenient speed lacing system with metal lace hooks The antistatic rubber soles have an aggressive tread pattern, and they are resistant to oil, gasoline, and other fuels.
The holes at the top of the shaft are part of the Haix Climate System. This clever system keeps your feet cooler when it’s hot and warmer when it’s cold. The boots allow your feet to breathe by absorbing the moisture from your feet into special foams between the inner lining and the leather. With every step you take, moist air is released, and fresh air comes in through the Micro-Dry fabric mesh at the top of the boot.
Haix or Not Haix?
As mentioned, this Bundeswehr desert boot is practically the same as the Haix Airpower P9 Desert. Some of these also come with Haix logos, but others are unbranded, yet feature-wise identical. It is impossible to say whether these are also manufactured by Haix or by some other shoe company. It is possible that the manufacturer’s logo wasn’t wanted on some batches, but it is also possible that BW ordered these from various manufacturers. That’s why we didn’t label these as Haix boots. In any case, they are made according to the same quality requirements. The color might slightly differ from one production batch to another, as you can see from the pics.
Condition
Used German military surplus from Bundeswehr warehouses. The boots may have some dust, stains, and other signs of use, but they are all still perfectly serviceable and don’t smell of anything suspicious. Check out the pics and you’ll see what to expect. One thing we cannot check is the condition of the Gore-Tex membrane.
These come with insoles, but you should replace them with new ones. Jalas FX2 Climate is a very good choice.
