Simple and surprisingly spacious British army satchel originally designed for carrying flares. Now you can use it e.g. for school stuff, light fishing gear, or beer. Some lightly used, some unissued. Small batch so if you’d like a nice shoulder bag, act now!

  • Measurements 26 x 21 x 14 cm (10.2” x 8.3 x 5.5”)
  • Main compartment closed with SR buckles and a small flat pocket closed with velcro
  • Weight c. 270 g (9.5 oz)
  • Shoulder strap adjustable between c. 82-135 cm ( 32-53”)

This shoulder bag is a pretty simple thing really. The flap of the main compartment is closed with two side-release buckles, and you can carry it using either the adjustable shoulder strap or the handle. Inside the flap, there is also a flat pocket closed with velcro. The text on the flap may vary a bit from bag to bag but most seem to have L79A1, which refers to the British army Infra-Red Stabilised Illumination Device Flare Kit.

If illuminating your surroundings isn’t part of your daily routine, worry not. You can carry loads of other fun stuff in this. It isn’t padded or stiffened in any way, so it isn’t an ideal camera bag but it will carry anything less delicate quite nicely.

Materials

This bag is made of sturdy Cordura that is treated to be water-repellent. Because this is military surplus, we cannot guarantee more than it might repel more water than without the treatment. So, don’t drop your iPad in the lake with this. It might drink more water than a Finnish heavy metal band roadie.

Condition

British military surplus. Some of these bags have seen a little use but they are nevertheless in very nice condition. Some are completely unissued. There might be a little bit of warehouse dust on them but all in all a very sweet deal.
