Freeze-dried food - if you're into carrying light, this is for you. These are properly sized portions and pretty tasty too!

Freeze dried food is good when potable water is available so that you don't have to carry it, like when trekking in Finland. Blå Band stuff has the usual modern features - it doesn't require cooking after adding water, and you can eat it straight out of the bag.

The food has a shelf life usually of two years. These won't turn bad after that, though.

Despite the Swedish name, the food itself is actually made in Germany.

Instructions

Tear off the top of the pouch where marked and fold out the bottom.
Add boiling water up to the indicated level and stir. You can also use cold water.
Reseal and wait for about 10 min, or 30 min if you used cold water.
Add more water if necessary.

Tuli testattua ruotsin kenttäpakki/trangia järjestyksellä.
Maku: Yllättävää kyllä, tässä oli makua! Oikein hyvää.
Koostumus: vettä ei mielestäni kannata pistää niin paljoa kuin mitä ohje käskee sisään asettamaan. Omaani laitoin määrätyn määrän ja tuotos oli ennemminkin keittoa. Arvioisin nyt jälkeenpäin että puolet asetetusta vesimäärästä olisi optimi.
Annoskoko: Yllättävän paljon. Tällä saa pakin täyteen varmasti, jos olet jotain tehnyt. Itse en tehnyt ja koko annoksen jälkeen olikin sitten ähky.

Onhan tää nyt tyyristä arkiruoaksi, muttei tarvitse tiskata muuta kun haarukka, kaappiin mahtuu monta tusinaa pussia, valmistuu nopeasti, ja takuulla terveellisempää kun jokin muu vaihtoehto. Oikeasti hyvää ruokaa. Ainoana miinuksena jatkuva käyttäjävirhe, aina tuppaa menemään liikaa vettä.

I tried the "Couscous with chili spiced vegetables" today and it was better than I expected, it smelled pretty freakin' nice (and spice) when I opened it and even nicer (tasted pretty damn good too) when I poured the boiling water in. All in all, fairly nutritious, easy to make thanks to the markings on the inside, and practical when you're out hiking and don't feel like carrying a truckload of shit.
