Austrian Windstopper Fleece Jacket, Surplus
A damn nice-looking olive green Windstopper fleece jacket of the Austrian armed forces, Bundesheer. Comes with a high collar and a membrane designed to protect from wind and rain. Fits this strange modern weather like a fist in the eye, as we say in peace-loving Finland. Despite what the pictures show, these are mostly unissued!

Our customers who have served in the Austrian armed forces have told us these are the most commonly "misplaced" articles in the Bundesheer. That's who popular these are among demanding soldiers and we can't think of any better sales arguments!

The size conversions and recommendations are based on our measuring work, customer feedback, and naturally wearing these ourselves. Don't get hung up on the numbers, though: surplus clothes often have variation.
Pay attention! The numbers are recommended body measurements, not garment measur

Austrian surplus
Functional, neutral, clean. That's what the Austrian Bundesheer gear is made of. Our Austrian surplus revolves mostly around the Anzug 75 and Anzug 03 clothing systems, but who knows, maybe the "Tarnanzug Neu" will make it's appearance if the Austrians decide to clear the stocks in the future. Get your OD gear while the stocks last.
After the Second World War the Austrian soldier looked like a weird mixture of Allies and Germans; the M1 style helmet and general profile really tried to bring that NATO vibe up, but a lot of the gear and even the dotted camouflage pattern looked surprisingly much like WW2 German issue. In the 70s they took a major leap towards NATO with the introduction of the all-green Anzug 75 clothing and equipment system closely inspired by the American equivalents, finally letting go of the "old stuff". The Anzug 03 brought the game up to date with some changes in effort to modernize the whole thing. Now the Bundesheer is again moving over to camouflage.

Excellent zips & stitching quality, pockets are padded/insulated, zippered interior pocket and underarm vents, exceptionally cozy collar, thumbholes, and just as top quality as the other Austrian kit. Highly recommended!

I'm 180cm and 72kg - I was lucky enough to order the last available Medium Regular !.. every part of this jacket screams durability and quality - reinforced areas, stitching and zips etc.
As someone alluded to before, the pockets are only big enough for clenched fists or car keys/lighter etc. but that is fine by me.
If I have to find a negative... the inside string adjustment is just a little too high for my waist so I don't think I will be using it.

I've sent off for mine on my usual surplus buying principles:
i. They're not making 'em anymore,
ii. If it dates from the 20th century, it was made in the Western Free World,
iii. By buying surplus items we are keeping the circular economy going, and
iv. By putting money into the Finnish economy, some of the taxes from it will go into their defence budget i.e. the frontline of the Western Free World. Perkele!!
As far as your second point goes, they're mostly made very recently (21st century). These are hella nice though.
Gorka, i suppose BARS.
