Please note! The level of wear in some cases is such that waterproofing will require more substantial stuff than just a spray for water repellency. If you are not up to the task, we suggest choosing a brand new rain cover, we have plenty of those to choose from. If nothing else, these can be repurposed as car tire covers in case you switch the tire type depending on the season.

It’s basically a big pouch that has an elastic cord at the mouth. You can cram it into any small space (not there you perv!) and quickly deploy it over your pack. When you pull the cord tight, the mouth will secure over your rucksack, shielding it from rain and wet ground. As an added bonus the cover will also keep your pack nice and tidy. Pro tip: you can also use these as tire covers.

The rain cover features an elastic band with a snap-closing loop at the end for securing the cover to your rucksack even when it's removed to keep the wind from stealing your stuff.

Size info

Two sizes. The larger one is actually big and should cover rucks up to about 120 liters / 7322 cu in and even the smaller one is nothing to sneer at, good up to 80 liters / 4882 cu in roughly.

Material

Made out of some mysterious Austrian synthetic fabric. Our guess is ripstop polyester. Some have a rubberized inside. No picking and choosing, you get what you get.

Condition

These usually exhibit signs of wear here and there and are priced accordingly. Some units also have markings made by Austrian soldiers.

Austrian surplus

Functional, neutral, clean. That's what the Austrian Bundesheer gear is made of. Our Austrian surplus revolves mostly around the Anzug 75 and Anzug 03 clothing systems, but who knows, maybe the "Tarnanzug Neu" will make it's appearance if the Austrians decide to clear the stocks in the future. Get your OD gear while the stocks last.

After the Second World War the Austrian soldier looked like a weird mixture of Allies and Germans; the M1 style helmet and general profile really tried to bring that NATO vibe up, but a lot of the gear and even the dotted camouflage pattern looked surprisingly much like WW2 German issue. In the 70s they took a major leap towards NATO with the introduction of the all-green Anzug 75 clothing and equipment system closely inspired by the American equivalents, finally letting go of the "old stuff". The Anzug 03 brought the game up to date with some changes in effort to modernize the whole thing. Now the Bundesheer is again moving over to camouflage.
