Product description

A stainless steel lid for the AB canteen cup that we also sell. If you want to keep flies and your greedy neighbor Hank out of your pea soup, protect it with this baby. The soup will also boil faster. This is a modern reproduction of the US army model.

Features

A kidney-shaped lid that is made from quite sturdy stainless steel. Compatible with the A. Blöchl-made US-style canteen cup. Funny that this DOES NOT fit on the original US cup or Dutch models, just the afore-mentioned reproduction. Weight approximately 60 g (2.1 oz). The lid has a handle at the top. Made in China.

The US canteen cup was invented over a hundred years ago. The cup is designed to be stored together with the canteen, taking up virtually no extra space at all. The style has remained pretty much the same since WWI, although during material shortages these have been made from aluminum.

Same here. Five stars though because there's good quality and strong metal, but too bad for me I didn't read carefully. I have a USGI canteen cup, and this doesn't fit. Indeed. Forewarned is forearmed. Unless you are as careless as me. Anyway, just in case, if you don't want to waste some good metal, be advised that with a little persuasion via strong pliers and a small hammer, the lid becomes at least usable. Meaning that it covers the USGI canteen.

Did not fit my canteen cup. Serves me right for not reading the ad carefully. Oh well, mistakes cost. But in this case, not much. Anyway this lid is all the quality one could hope, the metal is really strong - and heavier than the cup I bought it for. Weird.
