It's quite obvious that a drinking bladder is an excellent choice for high activity use like running or cycling. In military use, it provides the soldier with a reasonably large amount of water compared to a regular canteen.
Pick yer bladder carefully
Think about whether you need to carry something else besides the bladder or not. If not, consider a hydration pack with a low profile carrier and the bladder itself. This way you have a choice of stowing the bladder in the pack of your choice.
If you know you will always use the bladder in a daypack or a rucksack, get the bladder only.
Is 2 litres enough? This is a good amount for a day, but if it's an overnighter, get a 3-litre bladder. Strongly consider combining the bladder with a standard canteen.
Maintenance is important!
The bladder is a relatively complex thing and worth taking care of. Although the hydration packs we sell come usually with good anti-bacterial treatment and won't need washing when used solely with tap water, some brushing and washing is sometimes a very good idea.
Don't cheap out!
Thinking about purchasing a cheapo drinking system? Well, we hope the low price will be of some comfort after one of the seals break and the bladder leaks its contents inside your pack. Our hydration systems are mostly made for military use, so they have some tough specs to meet.
