US WW2 Blanket, Reproduction
According to the supplier, this is a reproduction of a WWII US blanket. However, it looks more like a British surplus blanket with a US tag put on. Looks the part though! Be it whichever, these are big and nicely priced blankets perfectly suited for civilian activities at home and in the wilderness.

Use
Blankets are so versatile buggers that everybody should have at least one, preferably more so that you don’t have to fight among family members for the possession of the only one. These are quite thin so you can easily turn these into all sorts of bush ponchos and other magic cloaks. Of course, you can use these as outdoor blankets excluding the cold Nordic winters or all year round on your couch. Furthermore, you can cut and sew these into something cool.
Materials
The fabric is a mystical blend of wool and something we aren’t quite sure what it is. The mustard brown ones come with an info tag, but since that is also a reproduction, we cannot be certain that the percentages are correct. These may be 65% wool and 35% unknown synthetic fibers. The majority is wool in any case—really durable stuff. The olive green blankets don’t have any labels; just a big “US” painted in the middle. They’re made from pretty much the same robust material
Sizing
These are fairly thin but nice and large, approximately 150 x 225 cm (59” x 89”), so you can fit yourself and your thoughts inside these quite comfortably, no matter how grandiose they are. Not a bad price per yard or even meter in case you plan on cutting these up and making something cool out of them.
Condition
Unused. These can have some dust and such from the warehouse because these aren’t individually wrapped in anything. They come with a distinct surplus smell but you can get rid of it by airing these out. Or you can use the smell of victory to toughen yourself up.

I do not need to be that victorious.
After 3 or 4 weeks of airing (rain/sun/rain/sun/rain/rain/rain, typical Dutch summer) and three gentle washes I kind of gave up.
For reenactment use, rolled up on a bergen or so, it could function as long as you don’t actually want to use it.
Using it for a blanket shirt seems a definite no go.
However, months later, after a bit more indoors airing it ended up on the lower part of the bed as an extra before the real cold sets in.
The smell is not so noticeable anymore.
There were undetermined white (synthetic?) short fibres mixed in . Looked a bit strange so it took me an hour to pull them out. (It made me extremely calm and relaxed)
Now it looks like a proper olive drab blanket.

Suunnitelmissa oli tehdä myös takki, mutta siihen ominaisuudet ei oikein sovi. Saa jatkaa huopana.
Väri on kiva ja tykkään ylijäämävaraston hajustakin.
