Banish the tiny demons of the night without toxic fumes with this US military insect net. These are designed for beds, cots, and open shelters, but a creative person can use this portable bug bunker in a million different ways.

Features

This US military mosquito net is officially known as Insect Net Protector (NSN: 7210-00266-9736). It was first used in the Vietnam War in the 1960s, and it is probably still used. This batch looks quite new, so you won’t most likely find any Nam nets here. At least some of these have been made by Southern Kentucky Rehabilitation Inc., but there can also be other manufacturers in the mix.

There are cords at the top for hanging the insect net above the area that you want to protect, and the cords along the lower edge enable you to secure the net in place. Note that when you order this, you just get the net without a cot, poles, mosquitos, or any other accessories. Manufactured from Nylon.

Use

These are designed to be set up around the bed/cot or used in the field with a shelter half. Originally, they were made to keep the Vietnamese mosquito hell at bay, but they will do their job anywhere where nasty bugs may lie.

Besides military use, they are perfect for hiking, hunting, or in your backyard. Use it together with a tarp or a lean-to, or create a mosquito-free haven at the cottage. Wild visionaries can come up with many other fantastic uses. Some have even rigged one of these on the pickup truck bed.

Size info

It is tricky to measure these hexagonalish things in a sensible way because the shape is challenging and the form flies wild and free. When folded in half lengthwise, the flat measurements are c. 165 x 480 cm (65" x 189"), and the weight c. 900 g (2.0 lbs).

Condition

US military surplus. The condition can vary to some extent, but these are in pretty good shape all in all. Some can be completely unused. And all of them will work as intended, keeping the tiny vampires away.
