No fancy bullshit, the Jääkäripuukko is simply a proper no-nonsense utility knife. Quality carbon steel, traditional Finnish puukko blade profile with a slight drop point. The Jääkäripuukko is not designed to sit on a shelf for decoration, this is a honest tool made for hard work.

Leather sheaths sold separately! The sheatless puukko's are shipped with a simple cardboard blade cover.

General features

  • Medium size general purpose utility knife, a solid choice for most situations.

  • Spine ground and beveled to strike sparks from ferro rods.
  • Full/stick hybrid tang with textured overmolded rubber grip.

Short or long? The choice is easy, if you have at least some idea about what you´re going to use it for. The 110 (shorter) is an excellent all-round knife for just about any tasks, it's best paired up with something bigger such as an axe or the Skrama. The 140 (longer) might be a bit "clumsier" but on the other hand the long blade make it a bit better at chopping through saplings and firewood. But it all boils down to personal preference, the one that feels best is the one for you!

Blade

Traditional and proven functional Finnish puukko profile with a drop point. The thickness of 4,2 mm makes this a bit more robust than most old timey traditional Finnish puukkos. The grind is a scandi grind with a tiny secondary bevel, currently the most commonly used Finnish puukko grind.

The strong blade can take a beating, you can use the Jääkäri for batoning without problem, just don´t hit your fingers or the rubber handle, those are not strong like steel.

80CrV2 carbon steel and heat treatment

All Terävä carbon steel knives are made from 80CrV2. The "thing" is that this is really nothing fancy or special, just a very good tool steel which can take a beating and offers good edge retention. 80CrV2 has over the decades earned a reputation as a solid and reliable steel, especially for our purposes.

The heat treatment we use leaves the surface of the steel softer (approx. 52 HRC) than the inside (59 HRC). This functions a lot like fancy differential heat treatments giving the blade added strength. The surface is very resistant against any microscopic fractures or other blemishes, this results in virtually zero problems caused by material defects!

When the blade is ground the harder inner steel is revealed, even though the outer surface is only 52 HRC the actual edge is 59 HRC. This is also why we grind bevels onto the sides of the spine, otherwise the spine corners would not be hard enough to strike sparks from ferro rods!

Carbon steel requires care: if your knife gets wet in the bush, dry it the best you can. Never store the knife without drying and oiling the blade.

Grip

The rubber grip is somewhat ergonomically shaped, but not one of those crazy finger groove things. A small finger guard on the front, a little belly in the middle and a knob at the back to keep your hand from slipping and also make it possible to use a Leuku style chopping grip.

The tang runs all the way through the grip and comes out the back, forming a little knob with a hole in it for lanyards and such. The knob can also be used to hit things, naturally.

Leather sheath

Sold separately, click here to buy!

The sturdy dangler leather sheath is builtwith a roomy plastic liner, traditional Finnish sheath construction style. The liner is roomy enough for water and crud to run through it and out the hole at the end. Around the mouth of the sheath the leather is folded double forming a strong and stiff wide band, this band is closed tightly around the grip using a press stud. When you pull out the knife the edge runs nicely between the two leather sides, not cutting it up as is a common downside of the traditional "sock" style puukko sheaths. Even without closing the press stud the sheath retains enough tension to keep the puukko in place, so around camp you don´t need to be opening and closing the sheath all the time, just remember to snap it shut when you're on the move!

Do not force the knife out of the sheath without opening the press stud! Although this can be done it is not good for the press stud in the long run and may damage it. Just open the snap before pulling out the knife.

It's best to oil the snap fastener once in a while to prevent it from becoming stiff and nasty.

Varusteleka Terävä

All Terävä knives are manufactured in Kauhava, Finland, by our partners at Laurin Metalli, Finlands leading knife blade manufacturer with roots going back to 1918. A Terävä blade is Finnish craftsmanship, pure and simple! And "Terävä", that's just Finnish for "sharp".

A few words from the designer

The basic idea for the Jääkäri was very simple: to make a functional knife with all the pros and none of the cons of a traditional Finnish puukko. A traditional puukko is fine, but the rat tail tang, wooden grips and floppy sheaths are not exactly the most practical designs anymore. So we made the blade strong, 4 mm thick, and with a full tang that goes all the way through the grip. The handle is shaped for a good grip and made from rubber.

The basic leather sheath is nothing like it's wildly swinging ancestors, this one is made with a sturdy turning belt loop and a press stud to secure the knife in place.

This is not rocket science really, but just a simple good puukko for real use. Nothing fancy, works like a charm!

Kaikesta on kuitenkin selvitty kevyellä hiomakiven käytöllä.

This knife has the potential to be the best allround bushcraft knife. The only fault is that the sides are not grinded. The consequense is that the angle between the grinded top of the knife, and the sides are not sharp enough to use on fire steel. I am doing it manually.

OK first off, nothing fancy about this knife as stated in the description. A little rough grind on the main blade bevel - And overall its a bit "rough" looking knife ! But that doesn't bother me at all, it looks like a knife that want to be used. The handle is superb, better than most 100€+ knives, and the blade comes razor sharp, seriously! - sharper than no other knife I've had before, you could easily shave with this blade.
And for the leather sheath, that itself is worth the 60€ - All in all you get a hell of a lot of knife for this little money !

I love it. Sharp as hell, solid, and rough.
I have the 14 cm one, and I can comfortably cut any wood I need (except too thick fuel), as well as do other works that might need more sharp.

I'm just happy with it.

Excellent knife.
It is a practical, no-nonsense, sturdy, though knife and I love it for those features, but wait, there is more!
The balance and the grip are good, the angle on the spine is enough to use a magnesium rod with, and it comes very sharp, sharp enough to shave the hairs of my arm, hell you can probably shave with it. Better than the moras and co. that go for more than 200 €. No really, this is better made, thicker, sharper, more comfortable and overall more balanced.

Also, aesthetically, these look like they can take a beating and come around for more, the look and feel of it just begs you to use it for every task and not stored and treated like a museum piece. It is the kind of knife that eats tacks and shits barbed wire.

I love my 140. It arrived razor sharp and in perfect condition. The thing that I love the most is the heft in the hand, it's 4mm thick!! It gives the knife a reassuring feel that it can take whatever abuse you can throw at it. The point on my knife wasn't a perfect symmetrical grind but I don't see that being an issue. I could only get the knife without the sheath (sold out) but curiously my mora companion sheath fits the knife quite well and will serve as a temporary home for the blade. So to sum up- if you want a great knife for a ridiculously low price then look no further than the 140 or 110.

Just arrived. It surpasses my expectations. Did some light cutting and carving. Can't wait to do further testing.
Took it camping, batoned, feathered, and carved like a champ.
However when I got home and tried to sharpen it up I discovered the grind and secondary bevel are a little uneven and made sharpening the sweep of the blade difficult.

Extremely well built and awesome all around knife that is the best bang for your buck of any knife I know of. I have the 140mm carbon steel and skrama bush tool big knife and love both very much. Will definitely be buying the 110mm carbon steel as soon as available. Thanks for such awesome value in knives.

WOW, I am very impressed with this knife. The handle feels so good in my hand, I thought it may feel bigger than I wanted but no, it feels great and the sheath is much more than expected. Good quality leather, good quality workmanship.
A great price for an even greater knife.
Can't beat this knife and I own quite a few different knives, some more expensive but this one will be my "Go To" knife, and Thanks for making it available in the USA.
Sincerely,
Sharon Lee Lockhart

Excellent value for money.
This is a proper bush-tool, not a fancy pants drawer queen.
Solid design, good allround size, comfy grip.
Whoever sharpens these knives knows what they're doing.
The sheath is of good quality, but could use a waxing out of the box.
I'm very satisfied.

Received mine a couple of days ago. Excellent tool, just like it's smaller sister the 110.
The only drawback I have found is the grind on the back of the blade. Almost useless with fire-steels (tried it with Mora, Light my Fire and Highlander). However, if you turn the knife upside down, with the blade facing you, it's like a dragon!! maybe a bit dangerous but it gets the job done.
Anyway, a very happy customer once again :)

Excellent knife, I bought it without sheath (at that moment it was only option available), and I'm satisfied with it 100%. I made sheaths myself- one kydex (with three type mounting option) and one leather almost the same as original and I'm so happy with it! If you need a knife like this, do not think - buy it immediately!

Be careful! These things are surgically sharp. Probably the best camping, bush-crafting, hunting/survival and even tactical knife at this price and one the best overall that I have ever held or seen out of the box. I have not had a chance to use it a lot yet but I have no doubt it will do everything well. Appears to be quality high carbon steel and easy to sharpen.

Received the knife today. Overall, for the money I think it is a good buy. The sheath is nice However, there are a few things I do not like. First, mine is not 140 mm (5.5 inches) . Mine is 134.62 mm (5.3 inches). Secondly, it did not arrive as sharp as most knives I have ordered. I can fix that tho. I can't fix the length. Thirdly, the forge marks do not completely cover the top half of the blade where it was intended. There are polished spots where it should be a forged finish. If you are going to leave that finish on it, it should be uniform where it is intended 5th, there was a slight ding in the edge near the handle. Lastly, the plunge lines are uneven. I know this blade is intended to be a hard user but fit and finish should be better, even st this price. Sounds as if most of the other reviewers received a better finished knife than I did.

I bought this knife and love it. Can't go wrong with this blade or the longer 140. guys complaining about fit and finish on this knife should have read the product description better... I just got the knife, not the sheath. Giving it 4 out of 5 only because it only has the option for a right handed sheath. wish they had left handed sheaths....

I am a knife nut from Canada and have a good grasp of the knife market, and if you want the absolute best outdoors knife for under $100 this is it. Just look here and youtube, just do a google search, this knife is raved about by everyone who has one including experts who have handled hundreds of knives. Rest assured you will get a great tool that you can hand down to the grandkids.
Why is it so great? First, they use a great carbon steel at a respectable hardness. Easy to get a crazy sharp edge and holds that edge plus its a very tough steel. ESEE knives have a great rep for their blades but I would take this over their 1095 because its harder and just as tough. Secondly the grind is a scandi(with a tiny microbevel) .This makes for a great carving woods blade that is also great at busting wood apart. Easy to sharpen too. Third, its full tang construction yields a brutal tough knife that can take abuse. Four, The handle is simple which is just what you want with no hot spots while being graet to hold in the cold due to the full wrap design of the insulative and shock absorbing rubber like material. I already had a knife with a similar handle material(Scrapyard SYKCO_) the stuff is awesome durable stuff. Lastly, the sheath is the best stock sheath I have ever had. Smart design with nice leather. It sits firmly in the sheath without the snap but with it the blade is super secure. Looks nice too.
So why not a perfect 5/5? I dinged half a star because the grind was not "perfect". The brind on mine was slightly assymetric. Does nothing to affect the function, just an aesthetic imperfection but only perfection gets my 5 stars, this is as close as it gets and should not dissuade anyone and is certainly reasonable for the price.
I already had a Spyderco Bushcraft when I first heard about these. The Spyderco is literally perfect but I like this just as much because its not pretty but a purely utilitarian tool that I don't feel bad about beating on. This model also came in 140mm which just fit between others in my small collection which lends it self to other duties like battoning justifying the purchase.
Honestly, I doubt there is any knife under even $200 that I would choose over this.

Pros:
It comes shaving sharp out of the box.
The grind is very clean (unlike the Skrama)
Digs into wood like butter.
Thick 90 degree spine for striking a ferro rod
Made of the best steel for the money that I know of
Holds an edge very well
Cons
The handle material isn't my favorite, but I understand why it is looking at the price

A look at the handle: (Just throwing information out to give you a better idea and what to expect)
The handle material feels like the high friction side of a mouse pad, but it's not as squishy as it looks in the picture, but it's not a hard plastic, I can barely make a mark on it with my finger nail.
Ergonomics are really good for large size hands. For my medium-large size hands, the palm swell fills my hand just about perfectly (erroring on the bigger side) Overall, my favorite companion knife that I expect to out live me.

If you don't have one better get one! This is my # 1 go to knife right now. And for the price it's a no brained. It's a freakin beast . Nothing can stop it. It's pretty evident by the people on you tube everyone picks this knife over anything on the market. It's a no miss knife. Once you get it in hand you cant put it down. Like the Finns say it's a no bull shit knife! The blade is sharp as shit right out of th box. So be careful because this thing will cut you in a heart beat. You can't go wrong with shipping it's only 9.99 this is sometimes cheaper than what we have in our own country. I got mine in 13 days from the day I ordered it . That's not bad at all now. Now that I have mine there's no way I would trade or sell it. Bar none it's the best knife I own. Thank you Varusteleka for sending me mine.

Simple, tough as nails and very nimble in the hand. The truth is that I didn't love it when I got it but after putting it through it's paces over the summer I now have huge respect for it as a well made, well designed and very functional blade.

So I got one of the 140's before going on my last cycle tour and used it for the following 3 months for my daily firewood tasks, chopping branches, carving feather sticks, making tent pegs, hammering in those tent pegs, even a little prying and a lot of food preparation. It handled all tasks really well and excelled at light chopping and batoning, it carves a nice feather stick as well. The knife is light in the paw, well balanced and very precise owing to it's long thin profile. The handle is also very comfortable...better than most other knives I own or have tried. The steel is a favorite of mine, it's easy to sharpen and holds a good edge. The knife also has a great sheath (Note: I found the knife rattled in the sheath when I bought it and I didn't care for that at all, so I cut a small 25mmx25mmx10mm piece of kitchen sponge and shoved it into the bottom of the sheath to hold the knife tip when it was in the sheath, problem solved).

This is an excellent all-round survival type knife, I would easily rank it among the three best I own (Fallknivan F1, Peltonen M07 being the other two) and I would recommend it to anyone looking for a slightly longer bush/wilderness knife.

I got first the knife and now the sheath. Both represent extreme value. Very comfy grip and the sheath is really nice. It will laugh in the face of a Garberg!

I decided to get this knife after doing some wood-chopping with my Mora this summer. It worked fine, but I felt that I was pushing it close to it's limits. I now have a much sturdier blade to work with!

Mine was not shaving sharp on delivery, but a few passes on the strop took care of that.

Sorry I do not speak Finnish. My 140 carbon arrived today. Razor sharp straight out of the box and the back strikes a firesteel really well. I was expecting something a bit rougher having read the reviews but mine is very well finnished (if you'll excuse the pun). A really good knife from a really good maker.
A friend of mine speaks Finnish so I asked him to translate the message I have written above for any Finnish people who do not speak English. He said it was "Pidän todella vaimollesi ja kun et ole kotona, näytän hänelle hyvää aikaa". He kept laughing as he said it. He said the Finnish language makes him do that.....

Quality control issues???

I ordered a Jääkäripuukko 110 and a JP 140 last month. Both knives arrived in perfect condition and are a great value for the price. I just love those knives! Due to that very positive experience I ordered three more 110s, three more 140s and a Skrama after they were available again 1-2 weeks ago. This time I'm not so happy with the knives. The Skrama is flawless, I really like it. But only three out of the six Jääkäripuukkos are of the same good quality as the Skrama and the first two knives I received last month.

One of the 110s has a flawed grind on one side around the belly. The angle was off and there was no micro bevel at all which resulted in a dull belly area. I will have to reprofile at least the whole belly to fix this.
Two out of the three 140s are even worse. The "micro" bevel near the handle is everything but "micro". Over a length of around 1'' it is a huge secondary bevel on one side of the blade (and the usual micro bevel on the opposite side) which results in completely different edge angles on both sides of the blade. The result is a completely dull blade on the most important part of the knife for fine work. Due to the geometry of that grinding error I would have to remove a lot of metal and completely reprofile the blade to a new zero-Scandi before applying a new micro bevel.

I know you're selling a lot of those knives at the moment and your supplier is very busy to keep up with production. But that should not result in 50% of the knives having faulty grinds like in my case. Please make sure the quality control is improved to prevent such problems in future batches.

Update / edit:
Varusteleka contacted me after this review although I did not file a replacement / refund. They offered me to send three new knives for those with a faulty grind. This shows me they really care for their products. One more reason to recommend your products to other people. Thank you for the very kind offer (as I did not ask for a replacement).
I would change my rating from 3/5 stars to 5/5 stars if I could edit the rating too.
Keep up the good work!

I bought the Skrama first with expedited shipping, but whilst waiting for it to arrive, I couldn't resist the urge to buy the Jääkäripuukko too; so taking advantage of the Veteran's Day free-shipping to the U.S. and the fact that they were actually in stock, I just went for it. My Skrama arrived, and I took it out to the woods in Northern Arizona to see how it performed - this review isn't about that big lumbering oaf though, but it does play an important role in my review, so keep it in mind.

After waiting for what seemed like an eternity for my Jääkäripuukko to arrive, I finally got a knock at the door. I pulled the well packaged Varusteleka box apart, and there it was. I tore away the little piece of cardboard, and the knife slipped out on to my carpet. Woah there*.

I was immediately struck by how incredible it felt in my hand, and I found myself momentarily reminiscing about the first time I ever grasped my own sturdy erection. It's as though it was forged in the heart of a dying star just for me. The weight distribution is perfect, and the edge is beautiful; it feels every bit an natural extension of me, as any good knife should. As many others have noted, these knives aren't particularly sexy pieces, not like Spyderco or the likes, but I couldn't really give a shit about how a knife looks. I'm not a collector, I only buy things that I'll be able to put to work, as such, I'd rather own a knife that performs boundlessly in the worst of conditions as a knife is supposed to, and then later becomes something of an heirloom.

There is one little caveat that I'd like to gripe about however. As I had mentioned, the knife slipped straight out of its plastic sheath and onto the carpet. Why? The plastic sheath is pretty lame - the blade just rattles around inside it, it's similar to how it must feel to roll an XXL-condom over a micro-penis. Why couldn't this be as well made as the plastic sheath that comes with the Skrama? You see, I didn't order the leather sheaths for either blade because I enjoy leather-work as a hobby and a little money maker, so I enjoy the process of making my own. Since I received the Skrama first, I became accustomed to the fact that its sheath can perfectly fine on its own as a stand-alone carrier: it securely retains the blade and has a little thumb-press to release the blade. Would it really be too difficult to incorporate this feature into the Jääkäripuukko sheath?

Nevertheless, it still earns 5 stars from me. If you are considering purchasing one of these, I strongly urge you to do so. You will not regret it! Especially considering the price, it's an absolute steal. I must give credit to Varusteleka there for being so gracious in their business, and for not trying to gauge their customers on price. I truly feel as though I've come away with more than my money's worth. It's been such a long time since I last had that feeling, that I had all but given up on my expectations of ever experiencing that again, because let's face it, the world is awash with low-quality shit.

Cheers, Varusteleka!

I really like the knife. Overall its a great deal that is tough to beat. It has all the features you need in a good all around knife. I thought it was a true scandi grind to zero when i bought it, but in fact its more of a sabre grind with secondary edge. It came pretty sharp from the factory but just past the belly to the tip it was flat like it was missed during the sharpening process. I ran it across my course, medium, fine stones and leather strop and i was stunned at the edge it took. I cut myself a bit testing the edge after sharpening. The 5 inch blade is nice to really get the most out of the blade. It's still small enough to finesse with carving and skinning. I actually skinned a white tail this winter and only needed to strop here and there to keep the edge keen so its a good edge holder. The large swooping belly of the blade is great for skinning and really excels there. I really prefer thinner knives though for my everyday user. I find anything larger than 1/8 thickness is like cutting with an axe edge even with a smaller bevel angle. My only other beef is the 2 step grind on the spine. It throws sparks fine but you have to get it just right to get good sparks which is hard to do with cold hands. I believe the 2 step angle on the spine is to prevent thumb\finger damage when carving. If you have ever carved with a flat ground 90 degree spine it gets painful quick without gloves or finger protectors. At the knife's price point it is exceptional and i am sure will get better with time with user feedback.

One of the best outdoor knives for the money. The recent edition has a very well sharpened spine that makes an excellent scraper for all kinds of jobs where you have to clean crud off a wooden surface (moss from wood, dirt from planks, whatever). The 140 is excellent for batoning and light chopping of stuff such as bramble vines. The heat treat/forge remnant layer came off pretty easy on mine, I polished it off with fine-grit steel wool in fact as it left a sooty trace on cheese I cut with it (I know, it's not really a cheese knife but hey, I'm in France, cheese cutting is one of the vital knife tasks here).

The button snap on the sheath is hardly needed during normal use. It works very similar as the rubber retention wheel on the sheath of the famous Peltonen Sissipuukko this knife is a homage to - once the knife sits in the sheath the front finger guard is held in by the large snap button even when this is not snapped tight. It's sort of a retention wheel without the wheel.

I would have liked an additional belt loop on the back of the sheath to be able to carry it higher on a belt, crossdraw. The dangler is fine though and ways can be found to carry the sheath higher on a belt with some trial and error and some double-sided velcro band.

The steel of the knife is absolutely fine, with good edge retention and toughness. Strong tip, too. Indestructable. The straight blade shape gives a long stable cutting edge and when inverted, makes a great scraper. In short, more than worth the price.

UPDATE, May 2018: I now got the 110 too, with the sheath of course (which is now sold separately. Do get it, you will be hard pressed to find another sheath this good at a comparable price). The 110 is to serve as a safety knife in a hot-air balloon, strapped to a cobra-buckled belt which in turn is part of a pilot safety harness. I hate harnesses, so I want to to be able to cut myself out of it if I'm stuck and the buckle won't open in some emergency. No doubt the 110 will cut any rope or belt - but I turned it into a rescue knife by rounding off the tip into a kind of mini sheep's foot. Oh horror! No, really, it worked out well, it's still perfectly functional and looks good, but I can cut someone (like myself) out of a rope or belt without stabbing them to death in the process... One of the advantages of affordable blades like these is that you can modify them if you need to, without any tears shed. Great tools. :-)

Excellent knife for the money! I think there will be nothing it coudn't handle. I am so fascinated with the Jääkäripuukko 110 and 140, that I will never be without one. That's the reason why I have 4 110's and 3 140's and 2 Skrama's.

Having made first field testing with it and the performance was outstanding on everything like whittling, processing firewood, building campsite and batoning.

I have ton's of fine knives (many Bark River's, TRC's, Fällkniven's, Böker, L.T. Wright and many others) which are also great, but knife-for-money - ratio is unbeatable.

And the service from Varusteleka is exceptional fine.

Unboxed mine today. Knife is lovely to hold and exactly as described. The quality is on par with my skrama which is a testiment to varustelekas product quality, as ive abused it for two years and it's still good as new, if a bit dirty. One of my favourite tools. I look forwards to putting this blade through it's paces.

The sheath is also of excellent quality. Leather was just a tad dry so i gave it a bit of grease and a rub. Outstanding stuff.

Bought the 110, came wickedly sharp. Good grippy handle, can't imagine it slipping at all in use. Nice weight to the knife, balanced feel to it. Depending on what grip you are using, may find the lanyard hole pressing into your palm, or maybe it's the size of hand? Don't see that as a problem. bevelled edge to spine works fine with firesteel.

Minulla on Jääkäri 140.
Työkaluna erinomainen, pitää teränsä erinomaisesti. Muutama seikka silti häiritsee tässä muuten erinomaisessa puukossa.
1. Terän teroitus on toispuoleinen, noin 0.50mm keskilinjasta. tämä näkyy häiritsevästi reilun millimetrin erona terän viisteiden välillä.
2. Suoraan paketista puukko oli huonosti teroitettu, eikä leikannut edes tulostuspaperia kunnolla. Kevyen teroituksen jälkeen selviytyi välttävästi sanomalehtipaperitestistä.
3. Tupen nahkaisen vyölenkin tekisin hivenen paksummasta nahasta ja niittauksen lisäksi pieni ommel saumaan.
4. Terän mikroviisteestä en pidä.
Yhteenvetona suosittelisin Varustelekalle tarkempaa laadunvalvontaa, tasalaatuisten tuotteiden aikaansaamiseksi.

I just received the model 140 with its holster in France, the only complaints I can make is not really perfect finishes and irregular sharpening.Delivery times are very long for a country in the European community (9 days), I think it's faster if you live in the USA.This knife seems very functional, I have not tested it in the forest yet but I think it will work well. the balance is perfect with the model 140 but I thought that the blade would be a little wider, mine is 2.6 mm and in the photos it is believed that it is 3.00 mm.The case is original a little bit expensive and perfectly functional.

Attention, after the first use in bushcraft I can confirm that the material of the handle is very sensitive to heat and can melt very easily, do not approach too much fire and avoid contact with embers. A spark from the campfire fell on the handle of the knife and it immediately melted the plastic, now there is a hole.
The material of the handle is very fragile.

Ok two parts to this, first the fact part. The knife is kind of like those people rescued after being lost in the woods for a week; rough but in an experienced way. The first thing is that the steel is pretty soft. Easy to sharpen but won't hold it that long. The manufacturing attention was spent on the edge and the handle all of which are excellent. The rest, well, just rescued and rough. This knife is like that girl in high school that didn't look great but she sure could rock ;)

Now the opinion part. I find the handle flat and thin. There is not enough meat to it for me because I like a more cylindrical shape. That's just me, you may find it very comfy, but it is flat.

So worth the money? Yes, but no more than that. The metal is too soft. Is it good looking? No. That said, it's just a f@%& tool. Buy it, but don't cheap out, get the leather sheath.
**NOW I WOULD GIVE IT A 3 ONLY. I THINK, NOW THAT I HAVE USED IT A BIT, I'M SORRY I GAVE IT A 5.**

I'll simply echo what everyone else is saying, these knives are amazing value no bullshit blades.
The handles feel good, the sheaths are well made and both of mine arrived razor sharp.
It's half the price of a Mora Garberg and (for the stainless) is made with a very slightly cheaper steel.
They have carved many stakes, feathered many sticks, batoned many logs and struck many fire steels without breaking a sweat.

Buy the short one or the long one.
Buy it in Carbon or Stainless, but frigging buy one as you aren't going to find better without jumping to the "Super steel" price bracket.

Excellent, utilitarian and practical knife for a great price. No wankyness, just as it should be. Only problem is the grind was a bit wonky on arrival.

Pakkauksesta jo äärimmäisen terävä. Käy tällaisen pienikätisen kouraan todella hyvin. Vankan oloinen rakenteeltaan.

I just received my second Terävä Jääkäripuukko 110 today. I purchased the stainless model last year and have been very pleased with it. That knife had a quality 90 degree spine on it. When I ordered the first knife sheaths were not available. So, I checked back on the website from time to time waiting to see if sheaths were in stock. A short time ago I found them in stock and carbon model 110 knives were also in stock. I decided to get the carbon model knife and two sheaths. The ordered items came promptly and very well packaged. This company has excellent service.
I was very dismayed to find that the carbon 110 does not have the quality 90 degree spine that my original stainless model has. I read through the items description and found that the spine is now listed as bevelled. I assumed that I would be getting the same features as my original knife. That was a mistake on my part.
So, if you have watched any of the many You-tube reviews of this knife they all mention the 90 degree spine as one of the knife's best features. It seems that the specs have now changed.
I am very pleased with my older stainless model. The sheathes are of excellent quality, as well.

First off... The design of the knife itself is awesome. The handle is excellent, the weight is just right for optimum use, the blade shape is handsome. I purchased the 140, and also the sheath, I am seriously considering the 110, and sheath, as well. Having said that, I do have some issues with the blade condition. Firstly, the entirety of the "finished" lower section of the blade has grind marks (stripes), on both sides of the blade. The top of the blade has black marks everywhere (including the side of the tip). The spine is not sharp either.
I do like the knife, in spite of the cosmetics of the blade being as knarly as it is. Please spend a little more time on the final product inspection. This knife should have been a 5 star instead of a 3 1/2 or 4 star knife.

I just got my second 110. I wanted one that I didn't sand the heat treat off of. Great knife!

I'm not a knife nut so this review will be short and sweet.
I got the Carbon steel 140 w/o the sheath and as I pulled it from the cardboard lining I was already impressed and amazed, started feeling it on my hand and the handles were the perfect size for my large-ish hands. I then tested the sharpness of the blade by performing tests everyone seems to be doing with their own knives like shaving my legs and cutting paper, and wow was it sharp. But I haven't taken this baby to the bush yet, so I'll definitely see more of its abilities there. Overall 10/10 would buy again.
