The Streamlight TLR-1 is one of the archetypal weaponlights even a fudd might know by name. The HL version provides a 1000-lumen blast of light for maximum illumination while clearing a room or searching an alley. Its wide beam pattern lights up large areas so you can identify who or what is nearby.
The switch can be rocked from either side. For right-handed shooters, the left side goes down for momentary and up for constant. On the other side, it's reversed.
Enabling and disabling the strobe is a fun little adventure. Here goes: with the light off, start activating the momentary side rapidly while counting. On the tenth, leave the switch depressed and wait for the light to present your choice: strobe/constant or constant only. Wait for the light to turn off and release.
When the strobe is enabled, the momentary and constant lights work as before. Double-tap the momentary side for strobe.
Installation
The rail clamp attaches/detaches quickly and safely without tools. At most, use a coin and don't tighten beyond finger-tight. The package includes rail lug "keys" for Glock-style, Picatinny, Beretta 90two, S&W 99 and S&W TSW, and Sig P320.
