A square scarf is something everyone should have: it's stylish and versatile, as well as comfy. Here's a Merino woollen scarf to offer better functionality, even more comfort and blend in better - without age-old woven patterns. The wool is so fine that this doesn't even itch.
As so often with fashion, armed forces have been the forerunners (in the West) who realized the practical value of square scarfs. The British men at arms have been using Shemaghs for over 70 years and in the Gulf War it was introduced to American forces as well.
The Särmä square scarf is, for all intents and purposes, just a really nice 110 x 110 cm (43" x 43") Shemagh made of Merino wool, and it lacks the tell-tale fishnet pattern weaves. Merino wool retains more insulating properties even when wet, and is generally regarded as the best thing you can wear next to your skin.
A square scarf warm and comfy when folded as a triangle and worn around the neck, but can be tied to cover the entire head, leaving just a slit for the eyes to protect the wearer from elements. But that's not all! Here's a list of examples how to use this Swiss-Army Knife of wearable stuff:
The scarf is flat enough so you can close most jackets while wearing the scarf. Also, here is an illustrated guide how to wrap a square scarf properly.
The material is the same as on the Särmä merino wool T-shirt. It can be machine washed at 40 °C with a wool detergent, but most often just airing it enough. Don't leave them in a wet lump after washing. Reshape them gently while still damp and hang to dry.
