Attaches with buttons and tabs at the cuffs. You can sew these to virtually any jacket. The liner attaches to the latest Särmä Windproof Smocks by default, older models were not compatible but can be converted. For the DIY route, you will need the following accessories:
- Buttons: 12 pcs
- Button diameter: 17 mm or ~11/16"
- Cuff tabs from 10 mm / 0.4" webbing, sewn to the sleeve inseam (thumb's side).
Sizing
Next to the easy size, you'll find the user's recommended height/chest circumference. Not surprisingly, you can choose the same size as your Särmä Windproof Smock.
Fit to other jackets
You may want to use a liner jacket with any shell jacket you own. Below are tables of critical measurements of the liner jacket to help you out.
Make sure that the sleeves and center back length is shorter than on your jacket. As for width, pick the largest size that matches the measurements of your jacket. Even if the liner is a slight bit larger, it won't be a problem.

Pieni vinkki tuotepäällikölle: laittakaa myyntiin sopivia nappipusseja joissa oikean kokoisia nappeja. Täältä Tampereelta ei löydy nappeja kuin erikoisliikkeistä, siihen on menty. Olisi ollut mukava vain ruksata että x kpl nappisettejä mukaan samaan pakettiin.

For DIY folks, buttons from worn-out American BDU's should work.

I haven't seen temperature usage guidelines for this liner, but when paired with a good shell jacket, I'm comfortable down to 0 degrees C (32F) while motionless (i.e. can sit on a park bench doing a sudoku puzzle and the cold won't bother me.) Maybe it's fine at lower temps too... anyone? What's been the coldest temperature you could comfortably bear?
Jacket accumulates static build-up:
Be prepared to get zapped. A lot. Use a metal coin as a discharge buffer.
If there was one thing I could change:
For usability's sake, I wish I could button up the liner to wear on its own. Perhaps in the next version, buttons could be sewn on the right side and holes on the left. And the opposite arrangement on the windproof smock (buttons on left, loops on the right).
All in all, I'm fairly happy with the liner, but it's almost like having a bi-polar girlfriend who's into S&M. While she does a good job keeping me warm at night, she'll inflict pain by zapping. Can't live with them, can't live without them. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Sewing buttons into an older windproof smock was easy. Bog-standard BDU buttons work. The buttons have to be forced into the buttonholes. Tight buttons are good.
Gutted paracord worked nicely for the cuff loops. I put my loops higher in the cuff than the illustration. The cuff doesn't show (or get wet) as much that way.
My XL liner in an XL smock comes to ~1cm from the bottom of the hem; the illustration shows it ~5cm or so higher.
