The Petzl Sm'D is a locking carabiner that is lightweight, compact, and can be used in numerous situations; it is easy to manipulate, even when wearing gloves. This is the screw-locking version.
The screw-lock is easy to open and allows locked or unlocked operation. The red band provides a visual warning when the carabiner is unlocked. This system is suitable for difficult environments where contaminants (mud, ice) could cause an automatic locking system to jam.
The gate and screw lock have a rounded shape and Keylock mating system to eliminate any snag points.
The Sm'D is made of aluminum and features a lanyard hole to prevent dropping and loss and a guarantee of 3 years. Certification(s): CE EN 362, CE EN 12275 type B, EAC

Use
Screw the sleeve to unlock, the gate will open and close in this state freely. Once you screw the sleeve closed, the red band disappears and the gate is locked.
To keep the sleeve easy to screw, lubricate the threads periodically with a couple of drops of silicone oil, wipe off the excess. Should it get stuck or your fingers are too wet and cold to open the gate, first check that you are turning it the right way. Then wrap a bight of rope around it or make a lark's head for increased grip and leverage. Do not use pliers to open the sleeve!
