Features
The technology in these old school flashlights is very simple, and you can pop the hood yourself to come up with a diagnosis if something should go awry. No fancy processors or motherboards here.

Norwegian surplus
Unused traditional flashlights from the land of codfish and fjords. These will probably survive EMP blasts from future weapons and sun flares. These flashlights might have some barely visible scuffs from storage, and they have different manufacturers’ logos on them, such as Elves and Velamp. As far as we know, these have not been made in Norway, but they have been stored there.

It is indeed configured for D-Cell batteries, but I tried shoving one of those square 4.5v (3LR12) batteries in, and it totally works (just have to bend the contacts a bit to make room). So that is also an option.
