Features
Ahma means wolverine in Finnish. This is the manufacturer’s top-of-the-line technical insole developed to meet the needs of active outdoorspeople in tough northern conditions. The form-fitted PU surface layer feels pleasant on your feet and allows the air to circulate very well. Inside the sturdy outer fabric, there is a 2 mm Aerogel insert. Furthermore, there is a reinforced reflecting aluminum layer at the bottom. They weigh. 45 g/piece (1.6 oz).
Aerogel is a highly technical wonder material, which is super lightweight and has excellent thermal conductivity. It is used e.g. in astronaut suits. Aerogel keeps the cold away 3-6 times better than other insole materials. According to the manufacturer, its thermal conductivity is 0.015 W/m2 both on its own and when you stand on it. Other insole materials are 0.030-0.050 W/m2 on their own. When you stand on the other materials, most of the air is squeezed out, resulting in 0.045-0.90 W/m2.
Size info
The sizes are in twosies, because there is some cut allowance at the front. If the insole is too big, cut off the excess at the front. Where-to-cut lines are clearly marked to help you with this chore. Don’t go cutting anywhere else because you don’t want to risk damaging the Aerogel inserts.
