Katadyn Vario Microfilter

The award-winning Katadyn Vario is a versatile water filter in a compact, fairly lightweight package. It eliminates bacteria, protozoa, cysts, algae, spores, and sediments from water. It also reduces chemicals and improves taste and odor thanks to activated carbon granulate. A perfect clean water solution for a small group. The package includes the prefilter with the replaceable carbon core and ceramic disc, water hoses, a carry bag, a cleaning pad., and a silicone lubricant.

Features

Katadyn Vario is efficient yet simple to use. It has three filter levels: a ceramic pre-filter that can be adjusted to the cloudiness of the water, a high-performance glass fiber filter, and active charcoal. The cleanable ceramic disc lengthens the life of the microfilter, the pleated glass-fiber microfilter removes waterborne bacteria, and the replaceable carbon core reduces chemicals, pesticides, and bad taste/odor. Replacement filters and carbon granulate refills are sold separately.

A dual-piston mechanism uses the ceramic as a cleanable dirt shield and glass fiber for microbiological filtration with minimal pump resistance. A simple turn engages either the Longer Life or Faster Flow mode. The Longer Life mode is better for dirty water. The crappy water is first prefiltered through the ceramic disk, with an output of c. 1 liter per minute. The Faster Flow mode is ideal for clear water, which is directed straight to the glass fiber membrane, which increases the water flow to up to 2 liters per minute.

Compatibility

The integrated bottle thread attaches directly to wide-mouth water bottles, such as those by Nalgene. You can also use the included output hose to fill hydration systems or larger containers.
