The all-metal housing body is made of high-strength aluminum and is nearly indestructible. Soft neutral white light, featuring a max output of 240 lumens with a better color rendering for a clean, balanced beam pattern.

If you plan on using this a lot in freezing temperatures, a lithium battery is a better power source. It also saves a few grams of weight and extends shelf life.

I only ever wanted the Low level 4 lumens (which projects 9.5 metres) but... if you need the full 240 lumens for the full 8 hours, you're not going to get it.
Nevertheless, it is robust and simple to operate.
EDIT: I gave 4 stars because it suits my purpose (for wild camping) but I cannot issue a recommendation either way - the system automatically chose "not"...

Tämä Fenixin HM23 on mukavan pieni, kevyt ja kestävän oloinen. (siitä pisteet) Otsapannassa on myös hyvin pitoa ja säätövaraa. Myös kumirenkaat, joilla lamppu tulee kiinni otsapantaan, ja joilla lampun kulmaa säädetään, ovat kestäneet kelejä ja käyttöä hyvin ja lamppu pitää suuntansa touhutessa.
MUTTA sitten! Tuota luvattua akun/pariston kestoa ei ole tullut saavutettua kertaakaan, ei sitten lähellekään. Kokeilussa on ollut useita eri paristoja: kertakäyttöisiä longlife-paristoja ja ladattavia 2100-2600 mAh NiMH-akkuparistoja. Pahimmillaan olen käynyt yhden illan aikana läpi 3 täyttä paristoa; jotenkin tämä syö niitä melkoista vauhtia, ja tuon luvatun 16 h sijaan kesto on MEDIUM-teholla -10-20°C pakkasella n. 1-4 h luokkaa ja siinä tyypillisessä suomalaisessa, n. +12°C lämpötilassa n. 6-8 h, paristosta/akusta riippuen. High-tehoalueella tietenkin vielä puolet vähemmän, siis pikkupakkasilla vaikkapa nihkeät 100 minuuttia. Tähän kun vielä lisää lampun ominaisuuden, jonka ansiosta kirkkaus tippuu vajaalla paristolla automaattisesti Low-teholle, saadaan suru puseroon hilpeällä ryyppyreissullakin, kun avaat vuorotellen pimeässä lampun paristotilaa ja kaljatölkkiä. En oler kertaakaan vielä kokeillut kauanko akku kestää pelkällöä Low-teholla, sillä erilaiset näpertämiset vaativat usein sen Med-tehon. Etenkin siksi, hitsinpimpulat, kyllä popsii tuo yllättävä sumeneminen.
Ymmärrettävästi pakkasella akunkesto on heikompi, mutta todettuani lähes joka reissussa, joissa lamppua olen tarvinnut, kaikkina vuodenaikoina, säännönmukaisesti "ei jumalauta, taas se pimeni", nostan tämän keittiön yläkaappiin odottamaan sitä 30 min mittaista huoneenlämpöistä sähkökatkoa, ja otan metsäreissuille seuraavaksi jonkin muun tuikun. Petzl Tactikka irtoaa näköjään lähes samaan hintaan ja on maineeltaan hyvä. Josko sillä pärjäisi kokonaisen illan, tai lykyssä jopa viikonlopun syyspimeässä ilman, että rinkan yläläpässä täytyy olla pakettitolkulla paristoja reservissä.
Lukuunottamatta tuota akun/pariston kestoa on tämä siis hyvä tuote hintaisekseen, mutta ei valitettavasti vastaa tuotekuvausta, enkä kehuisi itse tarkoitukseen käytettävyydeltään myöskään luotettavaksi, vaan enemmänkin arvaamattomaksi. Siksi siis en voi suositella tätä ainakaan pitempiaikaiseen ulkokäyttöön.
