Blade
The Scandi grind blade is made of satin-polished Japanese AUS 8A stainless steel that is easy to sharpen for being stainless. Finn Wolf is equipped with Cold Steel’s own Tri-Ad® lock, designed by Andrew Demko. It is the toughest, most secure, and safest folding knife locking mechanism on the market. This makes Finn Wolf suitable for very harsh conditions. It won’t beat a fixed blade puukko in the reliability of course but it is perfect for situations where you must have a folder. This lock type is a bit stiff when new, so it will require some use before it becomes smooth.
Handle
The olive drab handle is made from fiberglass-reinforced plastic, which Cold Steel calls Griv-Ex™ and is also known as Grivory. The handle features a lanyard hole and a belt clip that can be switched for right- or left-handed carry.
Use
Puukko is the most versatile bushcraft, woodworking, and utility knife in this solar system. A long time ago in a galaxy far, far away they had some more elegant tools for a more civilized age but not anymore. The only problem with a puukko is that if you must have a folder, that it ain’t. But this is.
Finn Wolf is the perfect everyday carry (EDC) knife. Suitable for hiking, hunting, camping, and home. Use on its own or get a fixed blade puukko as a primary tool and this as a backup. In the wilderness, you should always have more than one knife because if the only one gets lost, you are not gonna be a happy camper.
Manufactured by Cold Steel
Cold Steel doesn’t leave anyone cold in the knife world. It is usually one of those either-or things. In any case, they make very strong and reliable knives, swords, tomahawks, machetes, etc. Very popular among military, law enforcement units, emergency services personnel, and the martial arts community.

TL/DR: next best thing when you can’t carry a fixed blade.
Dec 2021 update- I’m not fretting about the stainless alloy anymore- using a stropping action on a fine abrasive belt gets this pocket monster shaving sharp again very quickly. Still holds an edge as well as most of my non-stainless modern knives.

I was looking for something to carry daily that didn’t seem out of place in the office as my Woodsknife puukko dangling from my belt, and this knife seemed like a good compromise. It’s very sharp out of the box and I really like the solid lockup. The only gripe I have is the size and location of the thumb studs. I realize they really couldn’t have put them anywhere else for them to be useful, but they do interfere when you try to sharpen the blade. It can be worked around, but it’s just an extra step for an already lazy knife owner like me.
