Hello sailor! Here's a lightweight navy blue jacket or a heavyweight shirt, you decide how you want it. In any case, this modern Royal Navy garment is bloody marvelous. Used British military surplus.
Features
The dark blue navy color combined with the cut of the army PCS jacket gives you a very practical but not very militaristic jacket, perfect for everyday use. Also great for renovation, yard work, and so on.
The jacket has a zipper closure plus a Velcro flap on top of it. The sleeves can be easily rolled up. There are two secret super pockets on the breast, and the hem is so long that you can shove it in the pants if you want. You can have the collar turned down or up if you want more protection from the elements or wanna pretend poorly that you’re a spy. There are velcro slots for insignia on the collar.
These have various Navy-related patches on the chest and sleeves, but they can vary to some extent. At least some of these have been fire retardant, but I wouldn’t rely on it anymore.
Materials and care
The fabric seems to be a pretty wind-resistant and durable cotton/polyester blend. The ones that we checked were 75% cotton and 25% polyester, but there can be other combos as well. Likewise, washing instructions can thus vary. The ones we checked told us to wash these at 50 degrees Celsius (122 F) and hang to dry.
Size info
The first size is the recommended height and the second is the recommended chest circumference. The sleeves aren’t super long, so if you have long arms, take a taller version. And if you want to fit thick sweaters and such underneath, go with a wider size. If you are in between sizes, take the bigger one.
Condition
Used British navy surplus. These are in serviceable condition nevertheless. The colors can be a bit faded, and there might be some other small patch-ups and other signs of use as well. These are still perfectly serviceable in any case.

edit: bought two more to use for working, you really can't go wrong with these. The one from Varusteleka has the least use and i now use it as a wind jacket above all the merino stuff. Really like how you can fold up the collar to block wind from the throat.
The original Navy designation of the garment reads RN PCS WW AWD - Royal Navy Personal Clothing System Warm Weather Action Working Dress.
The strap with velcro on the front is in fact an epaulette for sliding rank and role info. You can google pictures.

My only quibbles are the strap in the front (for a rank slide) and the marginally short sleeves (for those of us with long arms). It occurs to me that the short sleeves may be intentional - so that the ends don't get caught in machinery sailors are working with. But the colour isn't out of place in civvy street, the heavy shirt/light jacket is just what one needs in the UK spring/autumn, there aren't excessive/obvious pockets, poppers or pit zips, and there are no shoulder epaulettes.
I believe the velcro patches on the collar are not for rank tabs as the description suggests, but to allow the strap underneath the collar to be used to close the collar if the weather is windy.
