British modular sleeping bag liner, surplus

Product description

Unlike everyone else, the British army just could not make a sleeping bag deal with the Teutonic devil, which is Carinthia. So they did the next best thing and copied the Tropical bag and Defence 4 bag and called it the Modular Sleeping Bag System. This is the liner for the thicker, Medium weight bag.

The bag is almost a direct copy of the Carinthia' sleeping bag liner. Most notable differences are the greener colour and slightly different tie-cord points.

Fits straight up inside the Medium weight, or "Defence 4" sleeping bag of the British army. Of course, by altering the places of the tie cords this can be fitted inside others as well. The tie cords are actually pretty close to match the Carinthia's bags.

Condition

Used and washed before discharged from service. Apparently, these are made by FECSA, a Spanish company that also made sleeping bags for the Dutch army at least.

I purchased the medium and the large. What is surprising is the Large is much, well larger. It seems much wider than what the specs say (5cm wider). I purchased it to go with the Tropen sleeping bag and it works well. Now knowing about how much wider the large size is I wonder if the larger tropen size would have been for me. I am 179cm and 140 kg :-( I just fit in the tropen and the medium liner bag. The large liner bag is huge and I fit easily. In fact I will use it as a sleeping bag for Christmas here in Australia (usually 20+ degrees C, sometime 30+)

I have a couple of these, recently purchased and yet to be used with the defence 4 sleeping bag. They all seem in very good condition, it’s not got the comfort of silk, but looks extremely sturdy… one liner was owned by a soldier called “Sexo” I have checked his bag for marks, but it seems Sexo left his (or her) liner bag clean :-)
