Price 137.99 USD excluding sales tax

Don't want to have your in-laws sleeping at the foot of your bed? Then get yourself some proper field cots as spares! This is a heavy-duty field cot, especially for those who need a longer bed or a really sturdy structure – like a mother-in-law or a Marine Corps gunny. The bed weighs over 7 kg / 16 lb, so it's not ideal for carrying in a backpack, but it's great for transport by vehicle or to keep as a spare bed at your cottage or home.

  • Supports up to 150 kg / 330 lb of meats
  • Sleeping area of 195 x 53 cm / 6’5" x 21"
  • Fairly easy to assemble and disassemble – packs down to a small size

Real soldiers don’t lug field cots around in the woods, but then again, there are officers too. And sometimes, actual military bases are set up with large tents and field cots – so they do have a purpose in military settings as well.

This field cot is modeled after the U.S. Army design, though it's not exactly the same. The bed consists of a nylon fabric and an aluminum frame. When set up, the fabric is stretched between the end pieces and sides of the bed. Nothing insulates better against the cold rising from the ground than a foot of air, and insects and other small friends aren’t a problem either – especially if you pair the bed with a suitable mosquito net.

Assembly

Start assembling the bed by unfolding the frame. The purpose of the two loose end bars is to tension the fabric and prevent the bed from collapsing. The bars are inserted into the channels at the ends of the fabric and locked into place.

Sitting on Beds

We've heard stories of people sitting on flimsy field cots, only to have a leg or some other part give way under the weight. Field cots are for sleeping – not sitting! This field cot is heavy-duty and will likely withstand sitting, where your full weight is concentrated on a small part of the bed. However, the maximum weight capacity is defined with the entire length of the bed in mind and only for short-term point pressures. So, if you're a beefy jarhead close to the bed's maximum capacity, it's best to avoid sitting on the edge of the bed!

Details

The dimensions of the assembled field cot are 210 x 66 x 44 cm / 83" x 26" x 17" (length, width, height). Packed dimensions are approximately 105 x 24 x 17 cm / 41" x 10" x 7". Weight is 7.4 kg / 16.3 lb. The manufacturer’s stated maximum weight capacity is 150 kg / 330 lb. This is likely conservative, but if you know you weigh more, we take no responsibility for durability. Also, remember on your travels that two or more people on top of each other can easily exceed 150 kg / 330 lb.

A green, zippered carry bag with handles is included.

The product is new.
